Motorcycle guys i need some advise
« on: May 05, 2007 - 09:51:42 AM »
I am thinking about buying a new motorcycle and am unsure what would fit my needs.I basically want a retro cruiser like a harley but dont want to spend that kind of money.I'm looking at 8-10k and want at least 1300cc or more. What are the coolest looking and plenty of power?I could buy a Harley sportster but think i can get much more blike for the same money with an import
thanks

Have you looked at Victory, they are slightly cheaper than harley and american. Made by Polaris.

I wouldnt buy anything from Polaris, the only bright side is that they are made in the US, but thats just my opinion.

I would go with a Honda VTX 1800, but that is probably over your budget, unless you find a used one.  I think that this bike is absolutely beautiful, but I guess I think most bikes are. :2cents:

I may be biased (change that to I AM), but you won't be happy unless you get the Harley.

Deep down that's what you want. You may pay less now for some ricer, but they don't hold their value.

Plus you'll get tired of people asking you "Is that a Harley?" and having to say more than "Yes".

Keep your eyes/ears open and you can find a great deal on a used Harley for a liitle more $ than the ricer.
You don't need the new Harleys with EFI and twin cams etc..
Get one with the good old Evolution Engine and you'll be very Happy.

I know I know but for what i am willing to spend i would have to get a 10 year old harley for the price of a new ricer.

Go to your local Harley dealer and see what they can do for you. Never hurts to shop in person, as long as you have the will power to walk away. As the others said they hold thier value much better than any of the other bikes on the market. I have an 883C, love it. Plan on getting a soft tail in the future. My wife will ride the 883c.

I think that whole bike is modded.  I also think that they look better than a Harley.

There isnt anything wrong with a Harley, dont get me wrong.  I just like Honda's better.   :2thumbs:

There are Harleys then there is everything else.
There are Mopars then there is everything else.
Nothing compares!

The metric Harley clones are as good a bike if not better but the Harley name is legendary and carries a lot of prestige with it,it depends on whether you want to pay for that or not.I still like to go fast around corners so I`ll stick to my KZ1000 that I only paid $1200 for.

The other problem too is I know myself,if i have a high priced bike and stumble across a good mopar deal i would probably sell it to buy the mopar. If it sits in my garage because of lack of time to ride it and i have less invested in it as with a ricer, there is less chance i will sell it.
