California dual exhaust tips?
« on: May 07, 2007 - 11:01:12 PM »
Anyone have a pic of a CA emissions car with dual exhaust, non cutout rear valance with tips?  Trying to determine if the tips on the rt are original or not, thanks

I had a 71 340 cuda a few yrs back. It was a california emmisions car. But it had the dual exhaust tips out the pan. I believe it was Barry that said if the car was in ca, then it would or could have the turn downs. Other states with the ca emissions could have the chrome tips.  :2thumbs:

California emissions was engine dependent.

It was a CA car with no cutouts on the valance, 440 rt... so no way it could have tips?  The car was special ordered with a stripe not available too... was hoping to see what originals may look like, but doesnt sound like I'll find out!

What is the engine code and what "N" codes are on the fender tag?

What stripe? I love hearing about odd stripe cars.

Not that I recall Alan? I rarely delve into 1971.

For 1970 California cars, it was the 440-6 and Hemi cars that got the turn downs without tips as part of the N97 package.

I used to have a lime green 340 'Cuda that was built in LA and had the N95 emissions code but was built with dual chrome tips through the valance. It was sold new in Texas if that means anything. Hindsight being what it is I wish I had not given it away. It had some neat options for a 340 car.

Barry, its the sublime car with the ledger green side stripe.  Getting close to paint!  I did find old pieces of the stripe, so it did have it!

I'll have to get out the fender tag and look, but the owner was pretty sure it had chrome tips.
