Hey All,

I have decided that I am going to upgrade the wheels on the Chally to 17" so I can use a monster braking package.  In any event I have been looking at rims until the eye balls have went buggy, but I think I have found something that I like.  Even though the rims will be 17" I want to keep some semblance of original look and feel.  Let me know what you think.  Cheers!

If it's to make room for bigger brakes, this aint that bad..

But I dont like the look, - and the comfort of those "rubberband" tires... :poopoke:

Actually, if you were to go "big" on a Chally, 17" is as far as I would go. You should be at least be able to get some rubber around them that doesn't feel too stiff when you drive it. I'm sorry I can't recommend a size for you. I like the look of the wheel.

I plan on running those, but the Salt Flats won't look bad either. What brake setup do you plan on using?

Yeah, those SixtyEights look good, simple, no bling.  Anyone got any pics of them on an e-body?

I like these Boyd Coddington forged wheels (you want as light as possible for less rear wheel HP loss):

Hey RagTop, those are okay rims, but don't do much for me.  To each their own though

MadMax, I looked at those Foose long and hard.  If they didn't have the little hex holes I probably would have went with them.  Ahh well.

Hey Trak, I am going for the biggest baddest package I can find for brakes, probably Baer Track although I would like the Extreme Plus, but I doubt it will fit with 17" wheels. Need something to stop the 700 hp 426 hemi I am currently putting in the car!

I found a picture with the sixty eights, now just image that SUV is an e-body. :eek7:

Another option, one I was looking at, is, get custom made OEM wheels.
I know Stockton (but they suck) do custom rallye or cop rim wheels to 17x10".
I am now going to be running stock 15x10" rims so didn't take this route.

Cass at Dr-Diff recommended I try specialty wheels as he knows they do custom sized OEM style wheels.
He uses them a lot and says they're excellent. Fast professional service, unlike Stockton.

Just throwing another option in the air.

Sweet advice NZ, I am going to give them a call.   :2thumbs:

Hey Trak, the Extreme Plus from Baer appear to fit on the front with a 17" rim.

I also found some pics on a chally that have very very similar rims to the sixty eights.  Check em out.

What good are all these big brakes that everyone is putting on if all they are gonna do is lock up and flat spot the $300 each tires?

I really want to know, I'm not being sarcastic this time.  Without ABS, what good are all the upgrades people are putting on?

Good question Pete, I've asked this myself as I'm looking at getting some and will.
I'll only be getting 11" brakes as IMO that is more than adequate.

The simple reason is brakes don't just do one function - stop you. You need to brake before you enter corners so having these modern, quicker, more positive feeling brakes help significantly. I'm not too sure though why some go for the track style as I'm pretty sure you'd need to run some serious heat through them to work how they're suppose or designed to, unless, of course they're just a label as a consumer selling point. "Just call them race brakes.....we'll sell more that way" lol.

True race style brakes need to be used at extreme temperatures to function properly, cold they are basically useless. Also, for normal driving where you're not slamming on the brakes ie: reversing or coming to a stop light or anything else that isn't a "emergency stop" it's nice to have a firm positive pedal, not a squishy sponge.

Has pictures of a beautiful 71 Cuda with the KMC Hot Wheels sixty-eights.  I thought seriously about the black sixty-eights, but it didn't seem like you could get them with a deep dish.

I love Salt Flats, especially with Grey centers. Put some meat on your wheels and they look awesome.
