Rear-end seal replacement

Do you have to pull the axle shafts to replace the rear-end seal in a 8 3/4 rearend?

If your talking about a pinion seal , I never have had to pull the axles. Tube seals yes. chunk seal or silocone , yes. A 749 housing has a crush sleeve behind the seal and bearing though.

err I meant the pumpkin gasket, not axle seals.  I should have been more descript...

You have to pull the axles to get the pumpkin out.
