I'm a (240) gun team leader. It is alot of fun until you have range about every other week. We have two to a platoon.
My favorite weapon in our TOA is the M203. But the lower ranks tend to get the grenadier duties. AT-4, (civilians may call it a "bazooka"), range is pretty cool too, you just have to try not to fry anyone standing in the backblast.
Seabee's  deployment cycle is 6/10(AF's equivilent is Red Horse or Pink Ponies,lol, we're just good at it) . Out 6 months and home 10 then do it over again. After 5 years of that you will see a couple gun shoots. Glad to see you get the treat every once in awhile LB.

Go-fish interesting to see the differences in the services. Security Forces in the AF (if designated as a heavy gunner) shoots once a year. We usually shoot about 1000 rds for qual (we alsways have some extra). I also do Combat Arms duties so I get to play with the guns all the time which I like alot better. 240 would be my favorite gun, I spent about 3 months of my 6 months in iraq behind it in the turret. The AT4 was a differnet story. I never shot it and when we arrived in theatre we were just handed them and were told to "figure them out"

Whats the size of a platoon, we are based around a 13 man squad.

We are bassed off of a 12 man squad not including a grenadier and suad leader. Basically 3 fireteams w/ FTL and 3 fireteam members. 3 squads in a platoon, a right guide, assistant PLT Cmdr. and PLT Cmdr.
I have made three deployments with my battalion, been to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan (disaster recovery w/ Army M*A*S*H),Kuwait, Spain, Kadeena AFB in Oki, Anderson in Guam, and extended to go to Bahrain in Feb.
Even though Seabees have virtually nothing to do with ships, we are still part of the Navy and they call it sea duty when you are deployable and shore duty when you are non-deployable. In a NMCB(Naval Mobile Construction Battalion) you will deploy 6/10 whether there's a war on or not, our tempo is the same we would just deploy to other pre-determined sites, Guam, Spain, Okinawa, Diego Garcia, Kuwait, and used to be Adak,AK and Puerto Rico.
 I did two years of "Shore Duty" in PR at SOCSouth deploying to various places in So. America with a SEAL team and Special Boat Team. There is usually 1 PJ attached to a team, tough guys there.
In the NMCB our embark officers are usually an AF Prime Beef officer. We have one with us but he is a tool so they made him something fairly insignificant. Our previous AF Capt. was an awesome guy though.
