Haven't had much time to post much.  I've been working on my 72 Cuda. I've got it moving under it's own power now so I can back it out, clean the garage, then pull it back in. A friend came over to see it yesteday and he like it so much that he wants to trade me a yellow Challenger for it.  Sorry, I already have 2 Challengers and never had a Cuda before. If his Challenger is worth my Cuda, then why does he want mine instead?
A little history;  Got it very cheap and it had lots of rust. It's a real 72 BS, 340, 4 speed, power steering, power disc, A/C, rallye dash and hood, stripe car  I rebuilt the rear frame rails, installed a trunk pan, outer wheelhouses, trunk extensions, quarter skins, driver's floor.   I never stopped to take pictures till today.  I'm working on the body work now to get it ready for paint.        My wife says she will drive it once I finish it so I guess I'm not selling it to fund my convertible pace car.

Here are 3 Cuda pics and one of the Chall Vert from Ebay.     Kind of buried, but it's like money in the bank.

I had the  engine and drive train in long ago but didn't want the gas tank in till all of the rear welding was finished.  During that time I just used a gas can in the trunk whenever I wanted to move it.

Nice progress, Shelbydogg. :cheers:  It looks like it'll be a nice car when you're finished with it.  What color is in store for it?

Rob,  The Cuda looks great and your moving right along with the restoration. What are your plans for the Challenger vert?

Jacksboys, the reason for the gas tank in the trunk, was to remove it and move it far away before any welding was done.

StreetC73, The color will be the original yellow color.  From the looks of it, what color do you call it?  Is it Fy1, Curious? Twist?  What do I call it? It didn't have a fender tag but that yellow is everywhere.

Jeff, the plans for the Vert were for a PACE CAR.   I've seen them at the Nationals but never see one at the local car shows.  When you start seeing one, it will be mine.

Just brought my Cuda Home today after sitting in a friend's garage for 7-1/2 years. It was a trade for 10 hours of labor that I did on his car. He was going to return 10 hours of block sanding. The car was parked inside and I didn't have a big enough garage...............TILL NOW.     I just have to move some junk around to get this car in there. The room over the garage is a huge man cave-party room that has my 10 foot video screen and projector.  It will now become storage for my car parts!

Here is a quick refresher of the story on how I got my Cuda. It was a response to Cuda Guy in my Pace Car thread on page 5.

Don, quick rundown about my Cuda. I found it by accident, Looong story.  A guy was saving it to restore for his kid, parked in the back yard. A BIG tree fell on the rear trunk and quarters and killed it. He pulled the engine and trans and parked it next to a another tree outside a friends barn. No trunk lid and no rear window. It then sat for years outside with rain, snow, leaves, and trash collecting in the open holes. Mice made it a hotel. He still had hopes for it but the kid didn't like it. I found it, the guy said the grill was worth at least $400, so that's what I gave him for the car.    The good: Real BS 72 Cuda, 340 4 spd, A/C, Power disc, steering and brakes, yellow with black stripes.  The Bad: I had to replace the trunk, trunk floor, trunk extensions, trunk gutters, quarters,  Hood, repair the frame, parts of the rear roof, find a 340 and trans and all 4-speed parts except the pedals. Plus everything else.  Right now it runs and moves, the A/C is charged and cold, but it is still a shell getting blocked and primed. After all the welding I did, I got sick of sanding and bondo dust, so I sent it to a friends and traded labor. It'll just be a driver and not a show car.

Tucked away for me to fit the new AMD front and rear valances that I bought at the Mopar Nats in Columbus, THEN OFF to get a paint job!



I forgot to add that I did a lot of welding on this $400 Cuda to get it to this point, in 2005 and 2006. I just didn't take any pictures. I wish that I had. The whole rear section was smashed and rusted. I rebuilt the rear rusty rails, welded in whole quarter patches, welded the drivers floor, installed an engine, tranny and all 4-speed stuff besides the pedals. Welded in new trunk gutter sections, new trunk pans, hood was rusted but a friend gave me his old one, seen here.  The list of repairs goes on and on so don't think that I got a great deal. It was a good deal but needed lots of work.    Car starts and moves as you see it here.  Wife says that she will drive it to Carlisle in 2014 if I can get it done.  So that means fuel injection, at least 25 mpg, a tilt column, reclining seats, a good stereo, Viper pager alarm system, power locks and stuff a girl with a bad back needs to drive a Cuda a long distance. A/C already worked so maybe add cruise control too. Carlisle is 14 hours and 800 miles from us.

Good luck getting the Cuda done by next July for Carlisle. I think you have your work cut out for you with the rest of the body work, paint, and Fuel injection along with getting it back together.

Dropped the car off to a friend's body guy today. He says for $2K, he will spray poly the car, block it 3 times, rework all of my bodywork, then urethane prime the car. It should be ready for the paint in 2 or 3 weeks or even sooner.  He started on the car as soon as I left. I've seen his work and it is very nice when finished.

Car sat sleeping in a friends garage for 7 years. I was out enjoying the Pace car.
