Fuel Tank Vent Tubes ***NEED HELP! 70 Cuda
« on: May 14, 2007 - 12:07:33 PM »
okay... the vent tubes are pretty much in place on my 1970 AAR....but does anybody have pics or a diagram of how they hook up to the tank?
My 1971, and 1973 are different then the 1970, and the shop manual pics dont really help much either... the four tubes that come out of the back of the tank, almost run right into the body... also I forgot to mention there is a long Z shaped metal tube that comes with the kit too...?? And of course, I sold my old tank at a swap meet some time ago...so I have no idea what to do....?
also...look at the pic of the sending unit...what is the correct way to hook that up? rubber hose with clamps?? any pics of this?...
Thank you!!

My 70 barracuda ca emissions looks different then yours. So my pics wont work.  The hose nipples on my 70 tank is on the passenger side. Then goes through a channel gusset to the passenger inner quarter via through frame hole, and into the tube. One line goes over to the fuel sending unit, one line to the front of the car to the 3 nipple breather and 4 to the tall tube in the trunk :clueless: but it's original.

I know my 72 cuda had those vent nipples in the back of the tank. But my 70 was on the pass. side like I said.

AARudy,

I didn't think 70's had those vent tubes. Mine doesn't.  :clueless:

My T/A only has the vent tube like the first pic. It goes into the frame rail.

:iagree: with moparal, mine come out the pass side, through that oblong hole in the frame, then into the vapor seperator in the trunk. There is even a rock shield that covers the lines going through the frame. I haven't seen one with the lines coming out the front of the tank before, but I've only owned a '70 Cuda....

yeah, I thought that line went into the frame rail like you guys say..it's just the rest of it that I cant figure out yet...my 73 is on the side too...I thought with having the other two cars I'd have a great reference to look at, but they are all different!

I bought the tank from a stand at a car show.a semi trailer that sold only tanks and stuff....maybe they gave me the wrong one?....the 70 shop manual..shows it coming out of the side... I have no idea..it sure looks like the correct tank except for the four tubes out the back..?

'70 N95 Fuel Tank has the vents on the sides. '72 - '74 has the tubes in the front of the tank.  What your picture shows is a federal vent setup.

So it seems I have the wrong tank.. my car is not a N95 car... all of the regular tanks I see for sale just have one tube coming out of the side for a 1970...and all of the tanks they list for ECS have four...no matter what year...according to this site: http://www.laysons.com/catalog.cfm?nGroupID=195&nModelID=33&nModelYear=0

check out this one on ebay..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220112183241

if anybody needs the 70 ECS/N95 tank I have let me know..its new..  :pullinghair:

Can anyone repost pictures of 70 N95 fittings between the tank and the charcoal canster? Al, Barry, maybe you still have these pictures?

There is no charcoal cannister on a '70.  :dunno:
