340 T/A value
« on: May 15, 2007 - 01:55:18 PM »
:feedback: Hello all. I have a T/A 340 in my dart. The car has been apart (still no interior) so the engine just has a few hours on it. It has been bored 20 over with torque plate. No sleeves clean water jackets etc. Has forged pistons, eagle h beam rods, arp main studs, still two bolt mains. Crank cut 10/10. Still have original rods. I put standard 340 heads on the engine at time of rebuild. The T/A heads were set aside. The heads do not appear to have been machined other than possible nurrled guides. They have never seen a die grinder. The heads have been recently tanked and magged, no cracks or stripped threads. And have the correct rockers, shafts and pushrods. The  engine with same casting non T/A heads was ccd at 9 to 1 compression, and the cam is a comp cams xe 274. Verry mild. Any way if I were to sell the rebuilt short block with the correct very nice rebuildable heads with rockers etc. whats a fair price? I have the contact info to the person who has the car the engine came in. So he would get first option to buy. Reason for possible sale is that the plans for the car have changed. Odd senerio. Would value your input. Have a nice day.

I would contact Barry at the TA Registry and see if he has the original vehicle on file. It would be worth more to the owner of the car it came in that anyone else, I'm sure.

Interest that you would post this. My Challenger has a 69 x-head 340 from a Dart GTS.

Seems to me T/A engines are going for around 10K or so IIRC
