I have had 5 pistol grip shifter 4 speed cuda and Challenger cars including my current 70 340 4 speed Cuda. It feels like no other 4 speed I have ever driven and I think that is why I keep buying them.

There's nothing like dropping it down and hitting the gas.
Drive it like you stole it.

That's what I saw in Vanishing Point, so that is what I had to have.  Still have 2 and collect 4 speed stuff at the swap meets.  I could easily convert another auto to a manual.   The manual makes the muscle car a real muscle car.   The only time I wanted an auto trans was for bracket racing with a crossover delay box timer controlled trans brake.

I have not owned a car with a PG but have driven many. Probably the best one was a few years ago when a friend had a Sub-Lime HEMI Superbird. That was a fun car to go cruising in. I took it on many long trips. I have though about putting one in my RR but I have just never done it.

I changed mine from A/T to 4 speed years ago. I miss the feeling going thru all the gears.

Yes NZ, and I feel so fortunate to own the 1970 Charger 500 it came with from dear ole St. Louis plant, home of the 500's. It truly is a fun day behind a beauty of a B-body going through the gears and hearing................ , wow, I was almost there, it seemed like, so real dude.  :roflsmiley:

NZ,
for the money that you put into the Gear Vendors conversion, you could have converted yours to a keisler 5 speed or Doug Nash manual and still had money left over to buy an NOS '70 4 speed console and plate  :money:
Clicking a slap stick does not even come close to shifting a real pistol grip.

I have never driven a pistol grip mopar even though I own two, that's because they both need to be restored. Hopefully the cuda will be done in a couple of months now that school is done tomorrow.

In hindsight there are lots of things everyone could have done differently. If it worked the way it was advertised too it would have been fine, I was not to know that it was a crap & unfinished system and I got shafted.

But, you're right, I could have but it was never an option on a #'s matching car, correct trans & all.
The 71 and more than likely the 73 will be be 3 pedal cars. The 73 will be a 340 + 4-Speed I have decided.

I kwon that you probably have the exact same question for us over here; but the question is "How well can you shift using your left hand?"

Being right hand drive,   Is your gas pedal on the door side with the brake on the left? Or do they move the gas pedal to the inside for use with your left foot?

:lol2: Nope, pedals are the same no matter the country. I drive as good with my left hand as you do with your right, we were both brought up with it. I look forward to driving with my RH when the Cuda is built. Driving RHD is no worries but shifting may take a few days to get the hang of. I think I'll find it a little easier if anything, instead of "pulling" 2nd-3rd I'm pushing from behind which on paper sounds quicker & easier, like pushing away from me, like FWD vs RWD almost, if you know what I mean.

It's kind of weird to imagine that you guys are use to these cars and the LHD but outside of America in RHD countries, it makes them that much more exotic, where as you would over look the LHD thing in the US because it's obviously the way it is over there. People who don't know cars are always saying, "Cool, Challenger!! LHD too!!"

2 pedals, 3, pedals, Left or RHD if it's a V8 Mopar (or Aussie Ford V8) I'm happy.
