Sad day yesterday
« on: May 17, 2007 - 08:01:10 AM »
I saw the thread that Torred made about his dog,and didnt want to hijack that thread.but yesterday i had to do something very difficult my best buddy Harley (my dog) had to get put down.it was so sad,i couldnt stay to watch.she tried jumping over the counter when i was walking away and ended up breaking a phone.these animals have a huge impact on familys.but you almost dont know it until theyre gone.the last pic is of her when she was a little pup.take care all

Mopar Guy,

Sorry to hear about your loss.  I have a 14 year Sheltie and I have don't have a clue what I am going to do when I have to do the same thing.  It's going to be hard I know.  He's been such a great companion.

Here's an idea how he's been part of the family:  My youngest  child graduates this Friday.  She' 18 now.  Well when we got our Sheltie she was only four.  WOW, how time has flown......

Sorry to hear that Eric, our pets do and are a part of our families, we "feel" their pain, and when we lose them the pain then becomes our own. Sorry friend.

Sorry to hear about Harley, Mopar Guy.  Yep dogs are definately like part of the family.  When our dog Lucky died it was really hard on us.  It's even harder when you have to put your dog down.  :-\ Just take peace in knowing that you took good care of Harley and the fun you had.

Really sorry to hear this. I have been there once and lost the next after a fairly routine surgery (blood clot). That was my not a happy ending in the other thread. I have to admit I never cry..... except those 2 times... I hope Harley's running with my 2 sheperds and having a great time.  :angelwings:

That sucks for sure Eric, heart breaking to leave them there. It's hard enough taking them to the vet for an operation. My boy is getting on and I'm not looking forward to the eventuality. :-[ Chin up mate, he's in good hands. Probably running down a street with meat for side walks & lined with thousands of trees & red hydrants to mark.

I am so sorry to hear about Harley.  She was adorable.  Just remember she is in a better place now.  I understand what you are going through.  We had to put our 16 year old Collie down about a year ago.  She was getting so senile we were afraid she would hurt herself.  We lost our 13 year old Sheltie a couple years ago.  He died in his sleep and we were glad that is the way he left.  Our dogs are a part of the family.  It makes me so mad to see people mistreat their animals.  We have 2 more Shelties now and they really bring us joy.  We are thinking about adopting another Sheltie too.  This Sheltie was dumped at the pound so she needs a good home.
Mopar_Guy remember the good times you had with Harley.  She looks like a dog we had named Cuda.  When you get ready you might go to the pound and adopt another dog.  It helped us when we lost our babies.
