'73 Road Runner
« on: May 17, 2007 - 08:00:36 PM »
My local bank has repossessed a 1973 Road Runner the vin# is RM21U3R******  It appears to have the original engine (440), has been repainted with some bondo in the fenders, missing small chrome pieces here and there.  What would be a reasonable price to offer?  Here are a couple of pictures.

Thanks

  I'm kind of curious myself.

With a 440, but in a '73, it's a plus-minus situation just because in my opinion this body style looked cool in '71 and '72.

Is it a real GTX?

What's the bank asking?  Low ball them as they might want to get rid of it.  They might think,"Oh, it's a muscle car" and price it high but definately work the price down if that's the case.

Here's a couple of links to spmething similar, sort of.

I think what Andrew mentioned is realistic, but the lower the better!!!!  :grinyes:

This is what I know.
1) It is a Road Runner/GTX (option only with 440)
2) It appears to have the correct engine.
3) This is 1 of 117 made.
4) The yellow is original color, repainted maybe early 90's

The bank is only take bids by silent auction. The price is unknown, they will take the highest bidder.

A clean driver type 74GTX runner sold for 16K around here last year. I'd say market on that car, esp if it's a #'s car, would be around 8K.

Shouldn't the VIN be RS instead of RM on a GTX ?  Looks like not on a 73.

I'd say 4K should get it.  Maybe a grand or 2 more if it's a true GTX.

The GTX was an option package on the road runner in `73-4.Fairly rare car but lots of mud behind those bubbles,my guess 5-6k.

I put a bid of $7,000.  But 4 days before the end of auction the loan was paid off.  The original owner got his car back...good for him :D. bad for me :-\.  My wife was happy that i wasn't dragging another car home. :roflsmiley:
