Not sure if this was from a factory test but the 340 c.i. 1968 Barracuda ran a 14.9 second 1/4 mile time and ran zero to 60 in 7.1 seconds. I think this was the fastest.

You are correct.  The factory manifolds were too restrictive on the 383 due to lack of engine compartment.  With fenderwell headers the 383 was faster than the 340.  Stock without headers the 340 was the fastest.
