The original idea was to present it to him on Thursday evening in the hotel parking lot.  Our usual schedule is to arrive Thursday during the day, go out to dinner with everyone locally then hang out in the parking lot all night.  We should have Don's car registered for Carlisle so he can take it to the show and enjoy it all weekend long with all of us.  I know there has been a lot of discussion about when to do the presentation and I will listen to all the ideas... however, I think he would really enjoy playing with his car all weekend long at Carlisle instead of waiting till the show was over on Saturday.

How about when you are almost done having dinner, have the police come into the diner and ask for the owner of a ______ Cuda with tag # CudaGuy to move his car. If that doesn't stir his interest enough to walk outside. The officer calls it in (not really) and then asks "Is there a Mr. Don _______ here". He responds and then the officer tells him that he is going to have to move his car before it is towed. Would be nice to have it up on a tow truck ready to go whe he walks out. Do you think that the "CUDAGUY" tag will be enough ???

That would be a funny scene for sure, worthy of a video. But there will definately have to be at least tempory tags on the Cuda, as far as insurance, his personal insurance should be good on any "new or added" vechicle from his exsisting policy up to 30 days.

Does anyone know for sure how this is going to be handled? The site would defiinitely get some good press exposure if it were done at the show. Maybe, if you talk to the folks at Carlisle, they would have a special event/announcement just for the presentation. It wouldn't take long to set something up if they were willing. A lot of people won't be able to make it on Thursday evening. Just putting in my  :2cents:

That's an interesting thought, as it's what Jackie brought up. She knows the people at Carlisle, and they would have done it in front of the grandstand. Needless to say, the idea was nixxed. Yes, I guess it would have been tough to keep it under wraps until Saturday, but it would have gotten exposure with the grandstand full for sure. The sponsers might have jumped on the band wagon too.

I think if we can give the car to Don Thurs night or Friday AM and still, if Carlisle wants to, have Don drive up in front of the grandstand Sat in the Cuda and present him with some honor and a big thanks to all service personel out there that are sacrificing alot. Is this OK with everyone involved? This type of fellowship is a big positive for the troops and the public. Especially with all the negative press out there. Thurs - family time and Sat - the spotlight.

Man I am gonna be a year late and a dollar short. I am REALLY wishing I could make it to Carlisle. I have never yet attended a big Mopar show and I would love it to be this year. Maybe this time next year will have me heading that way with my own Butterscotch candy. Sometimes I wish I lived closer to these big shows. I sure hope someone is going to videotape the presentation. Maybe someone can offer a dvd to those who want to see the presentation or were a part of the process? I myself would gladly cover any costs incurred for shipping/dvd/handling to see the magic moment.
