temp muffler work
« on: May 21, 2007 - 01:45:42 AM »
I am about to pass out on my keyboard as its 4:00AM here and i've been up since 7AM and went to bed at 5AM the previous night :blah: :violin: :faint:  But I have work to do tomorrow and the challenger will be road worthy enough to make it to the alignment shop in town :roflsmiley:  Right now all I have for exhaust is pipes off the manifold that dump out right under the rear floor pan...its a tid bit loud to say the least.  We need to get tips and a few other misc things before we put the full exhaust on...but I had this idea of tack welding the mufflers to the end of the pipes and then hanging them from some brackets that are already under the car with some plumbers tape.  I can't think straight right now but anyone have any idea why this would not be a good temporary solution for a week or so? :faint:

Couldn't sound much louder than glass packs or Purple Hornies.

At idle its not bad, but as soon as it hits about 1500-2000 rpms it gets ear shattering loud.  I have flowmaster super 40's for it already.

Mufflers are temporarily on, actually worked better than I thought...takes the edge off those RPMs

I took a set of cheapie turbos and hammered in some releifs so they clear the Tbar crossmember, and welded on some collectors. They just sit under the car. They are qquiet enough on most stuff to pull it in and out with neighbors close by.
