Building 440 Port Injection Intake
« on: May 23, 2007 - 11:45:41 AM »
Something I have been working on for a while....

started out with a tunnel ram base and taking a bunch of measurements.....

I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Set it up on my cheapo drill press (I don't - or should say didn't have access to a mill at this time) and....

Weld in some injector bungs and clean up with an injector port tool bit, and spend a bunch of time cleaning up to make it look a little better....

nt - I am impressed that someone has the ability to take on some development such as this. I eagerly await the results as I feel FI is the way to go for both driveability at low RPM and for some low end economy (I use the term loosely here) as most of our driving is in the lower 1/4 throttle range. I have perused the Megasquirt site but could not really make heads or tails for what I need insofar as putting together a FI system, even though others have gone there already. I will not be coughing up $3000-$4000 for a factory system. Difference in economy is not worth it. May I ask why you just didn't go for the M1 manifold that has the FI bungs already cast in place? This would save you a lot of heartache and grief for the throttle plate and induction system that you will have to get to eventually.
I am sure the eyes of most of the list here will be following this endeavour. Keep us posted.

I wanted to have  the throttle body in the front of the plenumn, not on the top. here is the material I'm going to use to make the plenumn upper part

I'll only consider myself clever if it runs when I am done....

Some pics of it mocked up in the car. I finished welding the sensor bung for the wideband and the collector onto the header. The fuel lines are going to run under the mounting bosses on the back of the head, under the steering and the master cylinder to some hard lines I still need to make. I included the picture of the engine on the stand so you could see where the fuel lines should run.
