Paint coming soon!!!!!!
« on: May 24, 2007 - 05:54:21 AM »
Well, the Cuda goes in on July 25th.. too bad for Carlisle 2007. I found a local body shop. The guy combed over the body and the work I've done to date and agreed to finish the body work where needed, re-block etc.

He's going to paint it base / clear and buff out the orange peel. I said I want it to look real wet. He said not a problem. I know black will show any imperfections, but he said I will be very happy with it. He told me to just prep the door jams and valances and he'll take care of the rest.

3k get's it done. I have a printed quote signed by him and I was VERY clear to him on not going over the quote under any circumstances and he was clear that he does not work like that and all will be done for 3k and not a penny more.

He did like the body work I did thus far and said the toughest part would be getting the shaker hood prepared. He's not using PPG, but RM paint.. I'm sure cost effective, but is it a good product?

Back in BLACK.. soon. July 25th she goes in.

Sweet! Is this the same '71 you were thinking about selling/trading a while back? The ex-Hamberger car?

Yes.. after she gets paint.. Hamburger cars lives forever. I still can't believe the guy w/ the vert ripped the car apart because they modified the rear 1/4's to put on N50's..

In retrospect, I'm glad he didn't trade The body man said I had one of the cleanest org ebods he's seen.

71 Fish,
Blofish is painted with RM paint and we are very happy with it.  RM is a very good paint.  Post some pictures when you get it painted.  Sounds like a great deal.  Happy Memorial Day.

71Fish,
Your Cuda looks awesome.  I know you will be really happy once it's done.  Thank you for the kind words on Blofish.  When my husband built her we knew it had to be painted Black.  Blofish is the 3rd Black Cuda that my husband has built.  The first 2 Cuda's were original Black on Black Cuda's.  Blofish started out being Dark Green with Green interior.  We new we had to have another Black Cuda.
Good luck on your project.  Are you missing anything on it?
Look forward to seeing pictures as you progress.

OK - I would like to hear some feedback.

I am considering throwing on black 340 billboards.. so black on black.. watcha think. Wife says no because the car did not come with it.. I say yes, because it looks awesome!

Let's hear some unadulterated honesty.

I am a purist, I say no billboards, I hate being trendy and it seems everyone is doing it now.  I have struggled with the same question because they do look awsome, when mine gets to that point I will be equally torn.
