Cars stolen
« on: May 25, 2007 - 09:43:58 AM »
To anyone going to Carlisle, I was alerted to this information from a friend. He is a member of Chevytalk.org and sent me this thread. it seems as though at the Goodmark show in Atlanta, some 13 cars were stolen from the show that were left overnight, and some from hotels. One was stolen and in a police high pursuit chase. Being an e-body and in such high demand, each and every one is a target. I hope everyone is careful whe they take their cars out there.

P.S. Please don't excommunicate me and wish bad things on me as I only have this link for the interest of the article only.

Your Fired!!!

Nah, seriously, It sucks that nice cars are stolen like that but those shevvies are pretty easy to steal with their plastic steering column collar and all the bad guys know about it.

Our Es are harder but not impossible so watch out there!!!

Usually it has to do with what kind of area the show is in.  Around here the crime isn't bad in my town, but the closer you get to a big city usually the worse it gets. :walkaway:

Any old car is easy to steal for a thief, no matter who made it.

It's really sad to hear stories like this.  It makes driving these old cars a lot more stressful than it needs to be.

The only way someone can steal mine is to load it on a rollback tow truck. Even then, they will have to figure out the "secret" to starting it.  :misbehaving:

REally sad to see peoples prized possessions getting stolen or vandalized.

If I were at one of these shows I would be sleeping in my car, not that they would want to steal my car .....  :-[

That's exactly what I was telling my wife. You guys that go to multiple day shows like the Ocean City, MD cruise in and Carlisle, I don't know how you do it. I would definitely be sleeping in my car, unless I had an enclosed trailer for it or something.

I've recently seen a spate of "sad mouth" cars like yours and mine going for $40,000.  Admittedly these were really good restos, but I don't think it will be too long before our cars start getting the attention of collectors ... and thieves.
