Poll: Broadband or Dialup?
« on: May 31, 2007 - 11:08:34 AM »

Can't believe this poll has never been posted before, not that I check but, anyhow, I was just curious as to what the majority of the users on this board are using at present. I'm on broadband with a somewhat modified computer, click a page and it's instant, especially on forums like this. I have truly no idea how some guys can't wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute for a page to load, very dedicated and very patient!!  :grinyes:

For the most part I agree with you. On the other hand, I know guys who actually time pages and work on shaving on fractions of a second, like drag racers. Personally, the difference between a page loading in 1 second and a page loading on 1.1 seconds is irrelevant to me.

I just thought about this about 3 days ago Carl, I was going to start one myself!

We just got DSL here at home a few months ago.  On the pricey side for sure.  Worth it?  Totally depends on who you ask.   :swaying:

Ditto, that is being very OCD. :lol2: I'm talking 1-2 seconds compared to 30+ seconds here.

looked into cable and fibre optic,,, did learn hat with the cable company, the more people on your loop that connect the lower your bandwidth, so for the same price went with Verizon Fios. :woo: each connection is direct and they include UPS with it for something like 35 bucks a month

I have wireless internet, which is supposed to be a lot faster than dsl. My problem is I live in the middle of the woods, and the leaves on the trees block the signal, :swear: so I am in the process of switching to DSL.  Right now, my dial-up is faster than my wireless that I pay $35.00 a month for. :banghead:

If I had to go back to dial up I would probably get rid of internet ability alltogether.   :puke:   I have not had it in 5 years and I dont miss it a bit.  Then again the page loading differences were huge in my case. Dial up was super slooooooooooooooooooooow  :walkaway:

Whoa! 30 to 1. :eek7: :clapping: I was expecting BB to be the most popular but not by 96.8%. :swaying:

Mike: When I saw the 1 for Dialup I immediately though " Mike....  " Glad you made the switch.
For the amount of time most of us spend on CCC and on the www it sure is worth while upgrading.

Big,,, depending on the distance, you may be able to shoot a wireless signal between to two locations. I know I can log my laptop in on one of my neighbors wireless routers

I think you are good to go. I can access my account from my work computer, and that sure as heck is a different hook-up, and system. Don't sweat it, and you will love the change. Downloading pics in less than 10 minutes.  :smilielol:

Took a while for the someone to admit they were using dial up.... or maybe the were waiting for the poll page to load up.  :roflsmiley:
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Dail-up is soooo 1990s   :roflsmiley:  :woohoo:

Sorry I could not help myself.  :misbehaving:

BB for me, one of the first to have it in my area, since early 2001. I wouldn't know what to do while waiting for dail-up!

Know I have my cable TV, internet, and phone service all in one package.
