My bad travels on memorial day weekend
« on: May 31, 2007 - 08:44:37 PM »
I should of known it was going to be a bad trip!

Before I could get on the jet, one engine was screwed up. A fat guy mechanic with a wd40 can and a screwdriver pushed a ladder up to the right engine, opened the cover and both him and the pilot were giving thumbs up and down signs back and forth to themselves. After a short 3 hr delay (ugh) we got to board while listening to the mechanic saying the engine fuel had no pressure and was throwing codes all over the place.

Oh that was re assuring
So then, I get to denver and have to run to get to my next flight that was boarding. I was the last on.

Made it to San Jose Ca. and finally found my dually truck and trailer in longterm parking.
The other supervisor that borrowed it left it setting on empty (diesel fuel) and no stations close by. Left the dome lights on, batteries dead and also parked in the middle of the lot instead of on an end.

Try getting a jump for your diesel truck in long term at 10 at night. 20 bucks and a dozen people later it was running. Trailer brakes locked up, out of fuel and a very tight place to turn out of. #*)@)(@!@#$&$&$^$%@ and I was ok . So now I am checking out at the gate and its 395 bucks to get out of the parking area. OK, here we go into the dark on oneway streets lost looking for fuel.

My truck holds 48 gallons between the 2 tanks. I was running out and decided to call for help on my cb radio. AAHHHHHH the wires were pulled out of it.  So I got on a highway thinking If I ran out, I could reach an interstate call box. I went 2 miles and saw 7th street. I was looking for 4th. And when I got off, I turned lft (thank god) in stead of yield right and hidden and just closing was a store/station. I put 45 5 gallons of fuel in it. So now I can't find my motel by the airport and I have no brakes pulling a total of 21,000 lbs. I drove for 2.5 hrs to somewhere god sent me and checked into a bestwestern after midnight. Then had to get up a 3am to go 400 miles before bad traffic hit and no brakes.

Oh I love my job, and miss my purple 70 440-6 barracuda.

I counted to 10 continuos and finally relaxed.

Through all of this I kept saying to my self, be happy and feel lucky. There are many other people in the world with far worse matters and no way out.

THE END    lol

Hmm m & I am thinking about working with you ....... :bricks1:
sounds like a lot of other jobs I have had

My misfortunate episode was do to careless helpers. As of today, I got my truck out of the dealership and running good, 165 bucks fixed my trailer brakes, and I am not around any anoying people. If you were to work with me Neil, it would be just a 2 person crew. I think you know how to turn a light out and fill a fuel tank :smilielol:

I finished this job today and go to Salt lake City Utah for a week in a coal mine, then back here for 2 weeks, then to Bp oil refinery somewhere in Ca, then 2 weeks off june 27th. Hope you can come down Neil. And I was going to just let you stay at my place and do as you please. Also was gonna help look for a southern bell for you. I do know 3 right now that have no hang ups and have been single for years, they are looking for a date and want to be friends with someone. I will be in and out of my home quite a bit. You get the run of the house I guess you'd say. All ready have you a new room, yer own personal bathroom, the use of my cars, and rent free to get you on the right track of finding a sole mate citizenship.

Come on down, take yer time and enjoy. My holiday travel was bad only for the reason of idiot helpers.
