64 Charger ??????????????
« on: June 01, 2007 - 01:42:43 PM »
I didn't know they made a '64 Charger. Someone nearby is selling one. I thought they started the chargers in '66. Is this a rare car???? Please post!

No such thing as a 64 Charger. Probably just a mis-print.

If it's a 64 Charger, it's a one of one, and REALLY rare.  :smilielol: They didn't make them until '66.

If my memory serves me right there was a dart with a Charger option package. It was not a Charger model. I can't remember what options came with this package.

could it be a ram-charger?

"Beginning around April of 1962, Dodge and Plymouth offered the first Maximum Performance Wedge (nicknamed Max Wedge) in their new, light, mid-sized cars. The '62 Max Wedge had a 413 cubic inch engine. The engine was enlarged to 426 c.i. for 1963 and 1964. The Max Wedge package, which included many drivetrain and chassis modifications, was available in all 1962, 1963 and 1964 B-body Dodges and Plymouths (330, 440, '62 Dart, Polara, Polara 500, Savoy, Belvedere, Fury, Sport Fury), except 1962 station wagons. Dodge called the package "Ram-Charger 413/426", Plymouth called it "Super Stock 413/426". Mid-year '63 saw the addition of aluminum body panel options including an optional hood scoop, a trunk-mounted battery to add more weight over the rear axle and the "Stage II" Max Wedge engines. The 1964 engines were labeled "Stage III". Contrary to popular belief, neither the early '63 426 nor the '62 413 were ever called "Stage I"

I always call the person to make sure, when there is an obvious miss print.  Never know if the person advertising it has any clue to what the have. Could be a rare car or bone stock pile of sh!t, but you wont know if you don’t call..

There was a option for the dart that made it a dart 'charger'.....it had charger emblems on it, but I dont remember much beyond that. There was an article in MCG a while back about it, the car was light yellow and I think it was a 64 model. Maybe that is what it is :dunno:

Maybe the guy hit the 4 instead of the 7. Could be a 67.

I guess it maybe sorta looks like an Impala, but it's pretty much a polara with the top cut off. There was a clone featured in some mopar magazine awhile back and that's how I knew about it. I think he used two polaras and it came out awesome.

Here's more pictures (not sure if this is a real one, or a clone): http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z8859/default.aspx
