Have the floor pans been replaced?

After he said yes, they are solid, I should have asked what did you use to make them solid?



yup, those are Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper covered with plastic resin...  but wait there's more... this was what my transmission tunnel was made of



that there is an Oklahoma plate from 1997 and what can you use to keep the outside air, heat and sound out with? 
Insulation you say?  Nope.



yup, a towel.  There was more towel on the sides.

A friend and I worked all day to get the transmission tunnel in ... (don't make fun of our welds)



Gonna order a floor pan on Monday, then I can finish it up.  Passanger's side wasn't bad at all, though Bubba did put more of that green plastic goop there.  I wire wheeled it and found pretty much surface rust.  I may just replace it anyway.

After this floor pan nonsense I can get get back to installing the Hot Rod Air.

dont forget the roofing cement to go with that chicken wire and paper,,, makes for a real tight seal

 :roflsmiley:  Gotta love the fine work some do!  I bought a 68 belvedere, told it had solid floors, went all the way to NJ for it, just felt the floors, yep felt solid, loaded it up... next day I pulled the interior, was all fiberglass sheets/resin :swear:  Oh well, made a great donor for my 68 satellite!

When you see ghay clip on ricer boy pedals like that it is a warning to look the car over very carefully. Sorry to see what someone did but glad you are fixing it  :2thumbs:

Floors felt solid even looked solid from underneath, but it was all resin.  What burns me is that he said it was an original 4-speed car and said he had the car for 10 years.  From the date on the license plate it looks like he was the one that did the "conversion".  I've got no problem with a project car, however, I already have a project car and didn't want another major project which this one is quickly turning into.  The wife may insist that I get rid of one of the project cars.

Yikes, and here I thought the '80's redneck who worked over my car prior to my purchase did a number on the '73... :faint: :misbehaving:  As stated, it's good to see you're fixing it properly to ensure it lasts another 30+ years. :2thumbs:

Sorry if I offended you, I guess if I would have thought about it I would realize there were other possibilities besides my first conclusions  :walkaway:

No problem.  I needed something to keep my feet from slipping off the slick metal on the clutch pedal, but it falls just as quick as the original rubber.  The clutch was, besides from being very stiff also very loose.  Had to pretty much mash down to the floor to engage.  Turns out the z-bar wasn't bolted in correctly (not a surprise given the caliber of work so far).  The action of the clutch was push the zbar forward and then rotate.  Now that its alot easier to shift and engage the clutch after putting in the 6 speed I can get the original rubber back on.
