Holy shlt. I'm truly speechless. :eek7: Out of all my time here and my posts this has to be one of the worst pieces of restoration I have ever seen, e-a-s-i-l-y. I don't know quite what to say or think. Have you hit the plonker up about it? Sorry to hear about that mate. I'm in the middle of buying a car and seeing images like this make me nervous!

In defense of the seller... He stated the floor boards were solid. He did NOT state how he made them that way.   :smilielol:

No ebay name.  Found him through local Craigslist.  He definitely wasn't an enthusiast, just a guy trying to get his car in running shape to use.  I think I still got a fairly good deal on it considering the prices of some of the mopars in the area.  www.texastoybox.com is right up the road from where I live and they demand some pretty hefty prices for their cars.  And stuff like this pop up all the time
http://austin.craigslist.org/car/339713893.html that are true project cars, but I didn't want another project car.   I wanted something to drive and work on and had a budget I wanted to stick to.

I realize with a 35 year old car I was going to have to maintain it, but after talking with the guy for awhile (took about a month for the paperwork and dealing to be done) I felt the guy had done quite a bit of work on the car.   On the surface the work looks good, however, once you dig a bit you find crap like this.  Oh well, live and learn and put it back together right.

Oh, and new development.  Went to go buy fan belts for the car and the "ebody 340" belts I brought home weren't long enough.  Had to go back for other belts, I have yet to identify where they came from, but given that the transmission was from a 69 B-body Road Runner and the radiator isn't original I"m guessing they all came from the same donor car.  Thats ok... its got a 6-speed Richmond in it now and I'll get an aluminum radiator in it soon.  Though I wish I would have known it wasn't the original radiator before I bought the 22-inch e-body fan shroud for 140 bucks.... and then it cracked....

  I've found steel wool mixed with bog ( bondo ) smoothed out, newspapers soaked in water then spread out to form the shape required, dried and covered with body deadner. Once just a plain piece of 3 ply wood screwed down, found that one the hard way, just put my foot straight through it when getting into the back seat of a car.  :smilielol:  Should have seen the look on the face of the owner,   :smilielol:  priceless.   :smilielol:

Taking it a little off topic, how'd the 6 speed richmond workout? What floorpan mods needed? I have a friend who bought one and now is not going to use it and is trying to talk me into it. any better/worse than a tremec swap for an original auto equiped car? I feel your pain. Just media blasted the convertible and am looking at buying about 3 times as much sheetmetal as originally planned. Nothing like stripping a car and seeing it in all its glory.

The 6-speed is working out pretty good.  It feels alot stronger and shifts way smoother than what was in there before.  I actually purchased the tranny crossmember, the driveshaft and the transmission from a fellow on ebay who turned out to be on of the members here SirChandlr was his handle.  The only problems were due to my car originally being an automatic and was hacked into a manual car.  There were concerns about getting the transmission hooked up because but after Chryco gave me some advise on the clutch and pressure plate it bolted up pretty easily to the stock bell housing, though only three bolts line up.  The other issue was I needed to get the driveshaft lengthened by about 2 inches, but that was easily solved.  If your car is currently an automatic you'll need to get a transmission tunnel like the one I got (or if you drink alot of Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew and have spare license plates around you could...  :roflsmiley:  )  Seriously, the transmission tunnel wasn't that difficult to install, the tranny tunnel is cut with grooves that line it up correctly with the floor pans.  Just take a cut off wheel and pen and mark and cut the size you need.  Also, don't worry about shifting the extra gears, I had no problem getting to 5, 6 and reverse with the proper transmission shift hole and the console took minor tweaking but also allows for the full range of movement.

Looks like your car went to the same body shop mine did...  I never knew you could split a garden hose under the trunk trim in place of pulling out the dents (As an added bonus, it covers up the ViceGrip marks)  Drywall screws drilled halfway in under the rear panel trim should be used to "fill" in gaps and T-shirts in the cowl can be used to plug holes.... 

I find new ideas behind every part I pull off....
