General question => How much cost a 'cuda projectcar
« on: June 03, 2007 - 07:49:59 PM »
Hi there,

I was wondering about the varied prices for project cars.
My mean is that the prices for varied build years are different.

Now which years costs how much ?

I will buy a projectcar which is mostly complete.
The body can be rusty but must be repairable, the chrome parts
must complete.

The engine and transmission type is unimportent.

So what costs the following build years :
- 1970
- 1972
- 1973
- 1974

Thanks for your answers ...

P.S.: What you mean is the best build year from the 'cuda ?
Cheers

With drivetrain being un important, all cost around the same to build. Fenders for the 70 would be more,

If you want to go cheaply, stay away from 70-71's. Challenger's are cheaper than Cuda's. I'm not sure I understand your question, but you could spend anywhere from $5000 on up on a project. It all depends on how much work you can do, or how much you are willing to spend to have someone else do it.

74  alot
73  ditto
72  alot more then alot
70  much more then all of the above

What your asking is the question everyone wants to know.  I guess the real answer is how much will the seller let it go for and how much will the buyer spend.

If money is the major issue though add about 10 or 15 thousand to start on 1970 project cars

Hi,

no, money is not the major issue.
My interest is knowing the average price for a project car.
I'am not sure with build year I would. Only the 71 'cuda doesn't fit my taste (because her grille and headlights).
At the one side I like round taillights from the 72-74 'cuda, at the other side I mean that the 70 'cuda is the more cultish car.

I look some months on ebay, but I can't find any analogy about the prices ...
Now I think when I know which modell is the most popular - I can better understand the pricing.

About the Audi models I build in the last years, I can say the definitly prices for projectcars.
So I hoped that someone can also say it about the 'cudas ...

Cheers

Basically all has been said. There are tonnes of 70 Cudas available from $5,000-$25K. I'm looking for a 71 Cuda at present and I just had a 71 original TX9 triple black Cuda #'s 340 needing full resto, trunk, frames, you name it, $45K was the asking price but I think the owner is "somewhat" dreaming. You should have no worries finding a 70 (which sounds like the one you want). What would be ideal for you? Rolling chassis? Complete?

I don't think anyone "tracks" project car prices.  There are so many variables.  If money isn't an issue, buy one in the best condition possible.  I think that the '71s are the most popular and the most expensive.  Either way, buy what you like the best. Cars are often cheaper to buy finished if you find one that meets your needs.  However, with todays prices I am not so sure this is still true.  A good amateur restoration could easily hit $20K plus the cost of the car.

I search for a car that mostly complete and rolling chassis (that is better for the shipping).
I would restore it byself (I have enough experience (my brother is a motor mechanic and teach me from my fifth year)).

Why a preject car ?
I would build my own car, than I know all about it and know how good it is build.
When you build your own car - it has a piece from your soul and you have a specific relation to this car.
That is the reason why I would buy a preject car.

So I'm not afraid about many work on a car.
Perfect was a car that would be original, better a original car with more work as a changed car with less work.

Eh? Just a few posts ago you said they were you least favorite? Don't be swayed but what everyone perceives as the best, go with your gut mate. From what I've been reading the 1970 model seemed to be your pick, stick with it IMO.

Carl, he just said they were the hottest.

I could say a blone is the hottest, but I prefer brunettes.   :icon16:

I think thats all he's trying to say.   :dunno:
