Another cheap Mopar
« on: June 04, 2007 - 08:04:16 AM »
I keep running into old mopars for cheap.  This time it's a 78 2 door Volare, supposed to run.  Leaning tower of power with a 4 speed ( should be an 833OD ).  Paint well faded, surface rust, small rust thru on one rear quarter, sheetmetal mostly straight.  Interior there but will need work.  Comes with a spare 360 of unknown quality.

$500   Haven't even started hammering on the price yet.

Make it stop  :scared:

Everytime I hear about a Volare, I think of the movie "Hollywood Knights"  VOLARE, OHOH, VOLARE, OHOHOH

Does it have rich Corinthian Leather?? All I can think of is Ricardo Montabalm!  :smilielol: My buddy at worked is going to look at an original 340, 4-speed 1968 Formula "S" Barracuda that has been in a barn for the last 20 years. It runs, needs restoration, but all original, is solid & driveable and he was asking me what was a fair price to offer. I'll see if I can get some pics if he walks away with it. Sounds like the owner just wants to get rid of it and has no idea what an original formula "S" is worth!!! I am drooling  :droolingbounce: :droolingbounce: :droolingbounce:

Wowsa, you dont hear about 68 340/4 speeds much. From what I hear that is one mean cam(for factory) in that engine.

I'm sorry, I just can't get excited over any plymouth or dodge after 1974. My first car was a 76 Volare and I hated it.

Bear,

I'm not excited,  but if I can pick it up for not much more than what the tranny and spare motor is worth ....... Cheap six banger transportation.

Moparmaniac,

No leather, hardly any cloth either  :roflsmiley:

Feel free to move this to "What's it worth"

If I do decide to get this thing and don't want to drive it, what parts do you think could be of interest and what are they maybe worth ?  I figure the 360, 4 speed and slant six must be worth something.  Anyone know what rear end came in them ?  The straight body panels might be worth a little.

Just curious,

I think $500 might be pushing it a little  :dunno:  I kinda like those F-bodies though, I went alot of rounds in Stock Eliminator and bracket racing in this one.

They can really "hook"  :grinyes:

While I can always use a spare 360 and A-833OD, I'll probably pass on the Volare.  Too many projects I can't get to now.
