challenger fender swap....
« on: June 07, 2007 - 06:22:52 AM »
Well I was looking for 70-71 front fenders for my 71 challenger but now I think i will even take 72-74 fenders.  What I will attempt to do is to cut out my marker light holes on my 71 fenders that are cashed (the area around the marker is perfect) and weld them in place of the 72-74 marker light area. Then I will lead the seams after they are ground down, and wal-la I have a good set of 70-71 fenders at a fraction of what the cost of new fenders. What do you think? I know, their not numbers matching, but neither is the rest of the car. The only difference is the marker lights right?

headlight bucket area would be diff.

Got donor '71 fenders?

Seems it'd be easier to sell your '72-'74 fenders and just buy the repops from what I hear, are nice.

Swapping marker lights has been done. If you have all the stuff and the skills to do it you'd be ok, but if your hiring it out just by new ones.

the headlight buckets are int he grille on the 72-74 , the 70 -71 have them welded to the front of the fender so you will need a set of headlight buckets & they need to be welded in the correct location & depth to look right
