OK, now I'm really lost, I checked the connection at the sending unit and the guage, drove the car and all of the sudden about 30 minutes into it the gauge started working, but....................now it keeps blowing the fuse for the turn signal and interior reverse light. I guess it has nothing to do with the fuel guage as it keeps working when the fuse blows. any ideas cwhy the fuse just started blowing, can it be a wire loose and making contact with something somewhere?

what gage wire did you use bullitt 99?

That's not mine, just a Pic. someone else posted. Size looks to be about a 12 but something smaller would be sufficient.      Your fuse issue could be a lot of things but most folks never look at the bulbs, a broken filament can weld itself to ground causing a short.

Ok, here is a pic of the factory ground strap and how they (the factory) grounded the sending unit off of the fuel line. Like said above any ground will work.
