440 block.........boat anchor!!!!!
« on: June 09, 2007 - 08:22:53 PM »
Well I have listed my 440 HP block 4 times on ebay now and listed it in here and I can't get anyone to even give me $300.00 for it. I am even going to throw in an extra set of 346 heads that I have for free with that price. So I will offer it to everyone on here once more and if I get no responses, I am going to take a video of me launching it off my boat into the lake and watch it sink to the bottom seeing that no one wants it. Then at least i'll get a kick out of it, because right now all I am doing is looking at it get in my way.

Location is key as no one wants to pay big $$$ for shipping an old crusty block.

Not to mention, 440 blocks, you can get for $50-$150 these days in varying years/condition.

That may be true, but not for an HP block. I've heard of people paying as much as 1500 for the right year hp block.

HP blocks are the same as non-HP blocks, only the internal parts were different.

It has a casting date of 3698830-440-7 and is dated 5/12/72. On the stamp pad it has this: J440  HP adn then there are two 8's under that. BTW, this block has been magged and put in primer, so it is not crusty. It only needs to be honed andpainted whatever color you wish.

Dukeboy......I am located in Dekalb. I am straight due west of Chicago about an hour and a half or so. It is also 45 minutes south of Rockford.  I work in Aurora if that helps get it closer to you. Where are you coming from?

HP blocks are the same as non-HP blocks, only the internal parts were different.

With that being the case, it is very silly and funny that people are paying 1500 for an hp block.

Numbers, date codes, the hp stamp, etc... if it was a 70 block he would have sold it long ago!
