Purchased My 71 'Cuda!
« on: June 10, 2007 - 07:04:10 PM »

Hey guys, just letting you know I had Steve (my shipper/inspector) confirm what I already knew that the 71 Cuda I was looking at is as good as it looked in the photos. Just heard back from Steve about 1 hour ago then called to confirm I would purchase the car! Can't wait, Should be here in 7-8 weeks I'm guessing as I collect a few other parts this may vary. As it has no engine Steve will be declaring it as a $19K car to save dollars on GST. Clear title and bill of sale of course. It's an orignal BS Cuda 383/727 car (has non-#'s in at present) and is a California car.

It will be minus: the 383 engine, TF-727 trans, rallye wheels (but on crap rollers), A/C, and the lower dash A/C piece but he'll throw in a mint standard control piece to fill the gap. She's as straight as an arrow with no rust, bubbles or bondo. It's 100% complete and has a perfect grille which is the main piece of the car as a NOS one will set you back a cool $4,000+ USD so it's always a good thing to get a car with a mint grille. Anyhow, I'm bloody over the moon.

Excellent, I know yer excited. You can buy the 15x7 or 8 rallye wheel set up right here in Ca with lugs and all for 485 complete in San Jose. Maybe put the boxes in the trunk or back seat.

Thanks guys, I'm kind of in shock at the moment  I'll need to cut down on living expenses (NOT Beer) but I think it was well worth it. Just to confirm so there is no confusion, the car will be getting stripped back. We'll bag and tag the parts and paint it triple black. Its a GB5 car but that paint isn't the correct shade. I'm buying black interior pieces from legendary, my Keisler kit is at the wharf and will ship with the car and I'm in the middle of talking to someone who has a flat hood for the 'Cuda (which if all goes well) will also ship with the car.

MoparAl: Thanks for the idea but I already have a spare set of Rallyes (15x7 & 15x8") and the car will be getting Cop rims, 275/60 on 15x10" rear and 245/60 on 15x7" front which I purchased for Lucy some years back, ready to go. I'm just trying to think of any other large items I'll need so I can ship them with the car so shipping is free. I know I'm going to need a Dana but I'm going to take my time on that so I order the right one from the right supplier, also disc brakes from SSBC, but again, I'll take my time and order the right set up for my needs.

The car is almost too nice to strip back but as you should know by now she'll be treated right and given the best available to her. The next time you see her she'll be a Triple Black 71 Hemi 'Cuda car that for the most part (90%) will appear stock but with a few modern upgrades. Can't wait to get started and with a 100% complete car, grille and all we have the perfect platform to work off, straight and no rust will see us save money and time on body work, a BIG bonus! A few other bonuses are that Dad will get the restored 8-3/4" from it with the same gears as the car had which are perfect for him (3.23), it also has the vinyl top moldings and Gull Wing installed ready to go!

I just put my deposit down for a Tim Banning built Aluminium 540ci Hemi! :woo: EFI and the best Tim could make is what I wanted. Big dollars yes but this is the first and last Hemi I'll ever see so as I always say, do it once, do it right.

Why don't you go ahead and ship one of those engines to me while you're at it. I don't think I could bring myself to tear apart a Cuda that's that nice already. But, I'm sure it will be twice as nice when you're done with it. Good luck and Congrats. :2thumbs:

Wow, that blue and white is just beautiful.  Almost a shame Carl, but it'll get treated right, so that eases my stomach some.

2 months is a long dang time, man.  I wouldnt know what to do in the meantime.  Oh wait, you have another ebody!   :grinyes: :roflsmiley:

Congrats, I know this means a lot.
