Computers! ARGHHHHHH!!!!
« on: June 10, 2007 - 08:45:15 PM »
I got to do a little work on my Challenger today!  YIPPEE!  I even took some pictures.  Now I can't open up my "HP ImageZone" to convert them so I could post them (Arghh!).  I go to open the icon and it says that the shortcut is not correct.  I did a system restore to an earlier date as that seemed to fix the problem the last time this happened, but it no worky.  I can see the pics in "Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0", but I can't do anything to them.  I know I need to get my computer to someone smarter than me to clean it up and get it back up to speed, but those geeks at Best Buy want a big chunk of money!  May have to break down and do it, or worse, go through the phone book and look for other options.  That's almost like physical labor!  On the plus side, I got to work on my car!

Thank you 4C!  Where do you live?  I didn't want the Best Buy geeks to see all the porn........er, no honey, I didn't say pron.....Oh crap!   j/k  I use the HP ImageZone to resize them and turn them into a .jpg.  But since I can't get the thing to open, I can't do anything with them.  I really do want to get this thing back up to snuff though.  It's about 4 years old now it just doesn't do all the things it used to do!

I can probably help you from here over PM's.  First we'll clean it out, then defrag, then get rid of any virus infected files and then tackle the spyware and hacking tools.  Once all that is done, we'll test your system and make sure it's running smoothly.  I have 35 computers that I maintain on a daily basis both windows 98 and XP.  Haven't played much with vista yet.   :dunno:   :screwy:

Only if you're interested though.   :grinyes:

I wouldn't let Best Buy touch a thing of mine! After they screwed me over on an extended warranty on a TV (those warranties are worthless with those people) I told them I would never darken their doorway again. I've hears several other horror stories about them from around the country since then. Their customer service just plain sucks, as in 'We've already got your money, too bad!'

Did you try reinstalling your HPimage zone program? Also go to HP.com it looks like they have a replacement for that software for free.  See this link
