Ok, from the Y14 code, the car was ordered either by a dealership or by a client through a dealership. Y14 cars had a deposit put down on them at time of order.

The only odd thing I see about thar cars options is the black stripe with the black paint, but I have seen that before in cars without the "special handling" note on the bottom of the sheet.

It is not coded as a dealer demonstrator or public relations car, so I do not see anything on the sheet that would have triggered the note on the sheet.  :dunno:

Occasionally people find inspection cards under the headliner, carpet or package tray. If you find anything like that it may help us figure this out?

maybe this is irrelivant, but maybe it might help - What state did the car come from?

This is an ordered car. Someone built it this way. There is always a reason. Some Black cars have been known to have a "Special Paint" tag or "Special Handling" or "Show Car Paint" on a tag. I think they can mean the same thing, it just depends on the car. :dunno:

I have no idea. Again, these are just educated guesses. Barry is our resident ninja- There are many Mopar Ninjas out there who know the crazy Mopar logic like the back of their hand, but some of this stuff defies any explanation. :clueless:

I would love to be able to say that this is what it is, but no one really knows. We could go an dig up some guys that worked at Hammtrammack Ass'y.... :stirpot:

By the way, I love your car! It's absolutely stunning. I dig the deep black. Got any shots of the interior?

Best Regards,

Dan Zimmermann

Another thought....

"Special Handling Car" was applied to police packeage vehicles- in other words they were delivered via specialty transport to a special location that handled the cars for fleet services.
The reason I inquired about the dealer location:

If it was located in Detroit metro area:

It could have been delivered directly to Hammtrammack- (Chrysler main office) for an executive or employee
It could have been a regional manager that ordered the car, and it could have been portered to it's destination.
Many times cars have been shipped directly from the plant location to a local proximity via a porter or small transporter.

If the dealer  was located  in the south- i.e. Kentucky, Tennesee, Georgia, VA...

The build tag specifies heavy duty leaf springs, heavy duty brakes, 340 4 speed driveline, all black- I'm thinking it could have been a Moonshiner's car.
My friend owns a PRIME example of a moonshiners car. All black RoadRunner, Satelite chrome trim- all, chrome BSM, stripe delete, Dog Dish, 383, Bench seats, heavy duty susp, extra spring....Space saver tire
His car has been documented - with a verified history as a Moonshiners car. (Hint- you could not get a roadrunner with satelite trim.) The extra spring also is a good clue..

I just love conjuring up the crazy Mopar logic. It just baffles my mind how and why they did what they did...
