Another thought....
"Special Handling Car" was applied to police packeage vehicles- in other words they were delivered via specialty transport to a special location that handled the cars for fleet services.
The reason I inquired about the dealer location:
If it was located in Detroit metro area:
It could have been delivered directly to Hammtrammack- (Chrysler main office) for an executive or employee
It could have been a regional manager that ordered the car, and it could have been portered to it's destination.
Many times cars have been shipped directly from the plant location to a local proximity via a porter or small transporter.
If the dealer was located in the south- i.e. Kentucky, Tennesee, Georgia, VA...
The build tag specifies heavy duty leaf springs, heavy duty brakes, 340 4 speed driveline, all black- I'm thinking it could have been a Moonshiner's car.
My friend owns a PRIME example of a moonshiners car. All black RoadRunner, Satelite chrome trim- all, chrome BSM, stripe delete, Dog Dish, 383, Bench seats, heavy duty susp, extra spring....Space saver tire
His car has been documented - with a verified history as a Moonshiners car. (Hint- you could not get a roadrunner with satelite trim.) The extra spring also is a good clue..
I just love conjuring up the crazy Mopar logic. It just baffles my mind how and why they did what they did...
