I have been a rural mail carrier for the past 27 years.  3 years til I retire.  Maybe by then I will decide what I want to do when I grow up.

30 year cop. Been a K9 handler/trainer for 22 of those 30 years and I am currently working my last dog (before I retire) who is named "CUDA". "CUDA" is a sable colored German Shepherd and is a dope detection and patrol dog. Prior to that, I was a firefighter in the USAF for 4 years (Vietnam era.)
Can retire anytime I want, but don't have any idea as to what to do in the " retirement afterlife" so I am still hanging with it.

I've done everything from a self-employed lawn service to carpentry, general laborer, and now am working in autoCAD at a local cable construction company.  I find it rather funny I'm working with something I would have used had I still been an ME major. (Mechanical Engineering)  I still have another year and some odd semester(s)? left until I attain my Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Global Business Operations, but for now the summer job doing autoCAD work has treated me well. (at least on the first day so far)

It's easier for me to list mine:
(In order from 9 or 10 years old until today)

- Paper boy
- Gardener
- Timber yard
- Roadworks
- General Maintenance repairs to public properties
- Fisheries & fish filleting
- Data entry
- Several factory jobs
- Storeman
- Online sales, word by mouth parts source for Kiwis & wharf work.  ;)

That's about it, I know I missed a couple in the earlier days but yeah,
Good experiences and although some had hard hours and were quite boring it was still fun.

Would have loved to be a car restorer or something similar.

Do you! :bananasmi Who for and what is the main system/manufacturer you design for? Eg: PS2, Xbox etc....See if you can get a Muscle car game made mate!! Title after title are "Tuner" related but yet there isn't any real muscle car games to speak of. A Muscle car only game similar in style to Forza or Gran Turismo would rock!

In no particular order...

Commercial fisherman.
Vending machine service.
Store clerk.
Harbor master.
Carpenter.
Iron worker.
Fireman.
Maintenance man.
Heavy equipment operator.
Runway de-icer.

I started working for my dad at age 5 as a commercial fisherman. I got 10 cents a pound for everything we caught. Now I just build houses. It pays better.

Don't want to raise up any bad feelings, but what's been the problem with the mechanic's license? They were ready to give me ASE cert just for writing stuff, and I know you know a huge amount more than I do.
doesn`t work that way here , you have to be sponsored by your employer to go to school 2 months / year for 4 years , no incentive for the employer to do this though 1] he is forced to pay more $$ so less profit in his pocket
2] you bay sits empty 2 months / year so more $$ lost by the employer
3] most people leave once they have their licence so more $$ lost by the employer
I could try to challenge the exam but I need 70% to pass , & know squat about Auto trannys & computer systems

It totally depends on the cost of living where you are. From what I know, cost of living in the US is comparatively lower than Europe. Just like living in NC or WV would be much cheaper than living in Beverly Hills, CA. :)
