converting to a ford 9"

somebody offered me a ford 9" rearend for pretty much nothing.... is it a tough convertion from the 8 3/4 rearend?.....thanks christian

I am not a big fan of the ford 9 " , the rolling resistance is high so they eat HP , what do you have now ?

Sounds like he has an 8 3/4.  I don't know of any advantage going with the Ford rear unless it was an alluminum Fab9.  I believe the stock 9 inch is heavier than the 8 3/4.

If you have the power, its either a dana 60 or the ford 9. I do believe that I will try the ford nine myselfe once this 8 and 3/4 blows up

an 8-3/4" is just as strong as the 9" ford...  IMA... :burnout:

ya i have a 8 3/4....the car has about 450hp & i want to put a 4 speed in my challenger.... so i was just curious, i was told ford 9" are extremely strong & somebody offered me one for practically nothing

The ONE thing that is nice about a 9 inch ford is the pinion gear is supported at BOTH ends. (See the pilot on the end of the gear in the picture)
