Dash Caps
« on: June 12, 2007 - 09:26:51 AM »
I have a 70 Challenger convertible that the sun is beginning to take a toll on the dashboard.  Not sure if I am ready to spend $600+ for a new pad.  Has anyone tried these dash caps that run about $100?

How do they look?   If you have one installed and can post a picture i would appreciate it.

Thank in advance!

I have had good luck with the fit of the dash caps for A bodies but horrible luck with the ones for e bodies, they dont fit and look wrong.

I'm in the same boat. Does anyone know if there are multiple vendors for these caps, and if so, which one is the best?

They do look better then dash cracks but the thing I found most annoying is the speaker grille doesn't fit at all

I'm not sure if there is more than one manufacturer. I do know there are different grades. I have used them a handful of times and it's a shooting match on fit especially around the vin plate and speaker hole. For a cheap pretty it up, go with the cap. Remember it's only temporary. Good luck. :2thumbs:

If at all possible I would go with a new dash  :money:  if you plan on doing it later anyway like I was, it ends up being worth it.  The pain of removing one is just as frustrating as putting it on.

 :iagree:

Well, after reading what some of you have gone through already I think I would rather do it once and do it right.  It will cost more, but the frustration of doing it with the cap then with the real dash may be well worth it.

Thanks for the input!

Even the best quality dash pad replacements will have some fitment issues. Nothing fits like original.
