dashes and ragtops
« on: June 14, 2007 - 08:29:53 AM »
Hey again gang..
Was the three-speaker dash a standard item for all convertible E-bodies? It seems all am-fm equipped E's came with the 3-speaker setup... But what about ragtops with am radios...

PS: Also, were there EVER rear seat speakers on convertibles? I don't ever recall seeing rear seat panels on ragtops with speaker cutouts.....

Cheers,
Troy

My 1970 came with the basic am radio and only had the main dash speaker.

I've had several Challenger ragtops (at least 6 or 7)  and I think only one had a three speaker dash.  I guess all of the others were am radio cars.

I'm curious as well - were any 64-74 Barracuda and Challenger convertibles available with with a rear speaker :clueless: :dunno:

Interesting question.  I'd be surprised if they did since you'd have to mount the speakers in the rear panels.  A practice I've heard alot of convertible owners complain about previous owners doing. :money:

Factory never put speakers of any kind in the rear seat or trunk area.

My 70 ragtop started out with a 318 and an AM radio, one speaker in the center.  Now it is a 440 and the same speaker in the dash!
