Did Challenger T/As come with black painted roofs???
« on: June 18, 2007 - 06:51:51 PM »
I went to a Car show in Peabody, MA this past week end and didn't notice this until I looked at the picture after someone made a comment about it.

I thought all Challenger T/As had black vinyl roofs?  :clueless:  I wonder if this was factory or if the dealer did this?

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

V02 - Two tone paint was an option on all 1970 E-Bodies except the Challenger SE models. Three T/As are known with two tone paint so far.

to my knowledge vynly tops could be added to the T/A, but only in black, never seen painted black roof on a T/A before.

Four vinyl tops were available on all 1970 Challengers including the T/As;

Three are boars grain;

V1F - Green

V1W - White

V1X - Black

Gator grain;

V1G

For the AAR Cuda, only the V1X top was available as far as vinyl tops go.

Very cool info!  Thanks guys!  :thumbsup:

I wish I had noticed this when I was there to see it in person.  :-\   I got to the car show late and whizzed through to see all the cars.

Kinda off topic but funny. Over the weekend we had the superbird at a show when a guy(in a camaro shirt and hat no less) came up and started asking about the car. He then informed us that he bought one new in 70, painted black. We found this interesting as no superbirds ever came in black. However, we didnt say anything and he eventually walked away. It was funny.
