It isn't rust.  Maybe a thin spot in the chrome.

They are lighter than my originals.

Looking at the pictures, the repops would work for my car, the chrome seems fairly deep and bright.

Bump.  Got a call from Auto Body Specialities.  They got a shipment of bumpers in for the 70s.   Ordered mine today.  Should arrive next week.  Will post pics in my resto thread when they arrive.

$249.00 each.   They originally said $125.00 shipping...........But they will box them tigether and ship for $60.  Total of  $558.       Still a lot of money when you can buy Mustang bumpers for $79.00.   But then,  We are special.   .......   Now when they arrive I will post some pics and if all is well, I will have two old bumpers for sale.   I just couldn't see paying $300 each to rechrome the ones I had.    Anyway, check out their site.  They have a lot of Mopar parts................David

I'm with you.  I cannot believe how much the price of re-chroming has gone up.  (Like everything else, I suppose).  I have about decided to get the re-pops, too.

Thanks for keeping us updated - I'm looking forward to seeing your bumpers when they arrive.

My guess here is that's because of environmental regulations. Alot of shops just quit rechroming so they wouldn't have to deal with it.

MEK is exactly right.  The EPA regulations have driven up the costs so high a lot of shops just figure it isn't worth it anymore.  But you've got to wonder how you can still buy a mustang bumper for under a hundred bucks when it costs 3x that to rechrome one of ours?

Wanna talk about expensive. A place in southwestern Ontario charges $1,250.00 ($1,453.50 w/cdn taxes) to re-chrome both bumpers on a '70 Cuda.

I was wondering is there any one in the B-more/Philly/Souther Jersy area that does re-chroming,  I have several pieces that need to be re-chromed.

Auto Body Specialities and Year one sell the same brand, both are Keystone. I ordered 1 from each at different times, thats how I know. Actually I used the 20% off spring sale from Year One, so it was only 200.00 for the front. Problem was the national backorder thing. Took several months to get. But they told me that up front when I bought it. Verry happy with the Keystone bumpers.
