It is a shame if the car was misrepresented to him.  It does seem like a tall price for a non-matching numbers car considering what I paid for Rev's RT/SE.  It is really bothersome when someone gets something other than what was presented.
Best of luck on your sale.
Dean

Was Rev's a six-pack car?

Funny how my old car keeps popping up again. Sold at Scottsdale for $93k. Now it has a floor shift, vinyl seats instead of the leather and no luggage rack.  Still Matching numbers??

The BJ description states date code correct engine with matching VIN.........auction house terminology for non matching numbers

I'm not that familiar with auction house terminology. In the past this car was identified as a block restamp. I installed a 72 engine back when I restored it many years ago.......I stand corrected.

You always have to read between the lines when buying a car from anyone.........ask very specific questions....
Nowadays because of the internet it's possible when previous owners tell the true history of a car that it makes false statements harder to pass.

I sold a rare 1970 Mustang 428 super cobra jet couple years ago to a fella who had it restored and sold in at BJ........I have let it be known I personally removed a 351C engine from it instead of the original 428 engine.

Not looking to buy. I was heavily into E bodies over 25+ years ago. This RT/SE was one of the nicest ones I restored. Sold it in '92. It keeps popping up on the internet for sale and now the auctions. This post started because someone on here noticed a fake block restamp. I actually called one seller on ebay to tell him what I knew about the car. From what I understand, he got his money back for it. Later, it started popping up again for sale, now with a correct date code engine, which I assume means it is a 1970 440 block? Back when I was doing these cars, either the vin on the block matched or it didn't. These cars were not worth nearly the money they are now, so even though it mattered some,  it was not such a big deal.
