I'm Going to re-paint my '59 DeSoto vert.

- But, dont want it to be the original silver metallic again.. - all the crome parts desapear in that color..

Do I chose another original color for 1959 DeSoto, - or can I just as well chose anything else..???

What color would you go for..???

So many colors to choose from.  Pick something that you'll be happy with and go for it!!  Thats what I would do!

I had a 59 that was a royal blue.  You could also go with black.  You'll never lose the chrome then.  I don't have any pics of mine.  Have you done an image search with Google or something similar?  You should be able to see several 59's in different colors.

That metallic light blue they put on the new 300's might look nice.

Do you want it to be a color that could have been had back then, or something more modern? I'm just thinking so many of those older cars were 2-tone. Maybe a silver/burgundy combo?

:iagree: Cowboy, I think black would look great with the white top/etc. Do you plan on keeping the car?

Red with white is always classic.  I don't think black would look all that good on that kind of car.  you going for classic looking for hot rod?

I want it to be a "could be" color, classic look, the wheels on the pic. is for trying out only, they are for the Chally -  :clueless: may be..???
I have been searching the net, all I find is cars in an original color - and there is none I really like..???

Do you think, as it is not going to be the org. silver, - that it dont matter if I chose another 59 DeSoto color, or something Toyota, Ford or ??? color.....

And, yes - it's gonna stay mine... :ylsuper:

You can always paint it back to an original color later.

If it were mine I would go with a very dark but transluscent Burgandy or Wineberry over a fine silver metallic.  This way the lines of the car would come out in street lights or the sun.  Otherwise it would just be a deep color.  A very dark purple that is almost black would work also.  I like the wheels you have pictured on it.  I would just run larger tires.  That's just my opinion and everyone has one. I would stay with a classic look that is updated at the same time.  The Desoto is a beautiful car.  I'm sure what ever you do with it will make it very nice.
