Mopar Muscle magazine inquiry
« on: June 20, 2007 - 09:34:26 AM »
I just got an e-mail from the editor of Mopar Muscle Mag asking questions about our project.  I took the liberty of sending them a note as to what we have going on.  He asked if I have notified any of the other mopar mags and I said no but was unsure of the other members on the site.  Could be a story brewing!!

They would love to get hold of something like this, believe me.  The questions that come to my mind are 1) is there anything to be gained by giving them an exclusive, and 2) is there anything to be gained by notifying other magazines? Maybe we could suggest that they can have an exclusive if they agree to interview Don and give him a full page spread with the car; give him something else special that way.

Just be sure they don't call him wanting an interview.  I'd hate to see them screw it up at this stage.

We just don't give them any information (if that's the way we decide to go with it).  Without his name or where he lives all they can do is send somebody to talk to him at Carlisle.

Alternatively, 4C, you can tell them that we'll write something up and send it to them.  I'll be at Carlisle Saturday, so I can get some pics of the proud new papa  :) with his baby, and I used to freelance for magazines, so I'd be happy to interview Don myself, and some of the pertinent players.  Again, if that's the way people want to go.  No egos involved; I'll help whatever way folks think is best.

Why not give them an exclusive if they want to help out.  They have a lot of connections, & although we have almost all the parts we need I am sure there are a few things that we still need.

That's another good possibility if they are willing to help. 4C, wanna see if they'll do anything to help things along?

Here's the e-mail I just got.

4cruizn, Since no other magazines have been notified, I would love to do an exclusive coverage of the car. That would entail the story about how everyone came together to make it happen, the car at the show, and a full feature with the car owner as soon as he gets it.

Does this sound like something we can do?

I will be at Carlisle Thursday afternoon thru Sunday, lets get together. Do you have a cell phone I can contact you on while at Carlisle?

Randy, I have not notified any of the other magazines as yours is the only one I get so . . . you were it.  As for any of the other members . . I don't know, not that I'm aware of.  I think its going to be a great story and many have come together to support this project.  You should see the list of donations . . . and the car.  I'm amazed that we were able to pull this off as time is ticking away quickly but as it looks now, the car will be done.  We are not sure how we are going to make the presentation as it is being discussed now.  Its definitely a great story.  If you have any other questions, I'm sure I can help.

4cruizn, My name is Randy bolig, and I am the editor of Mopar Muscle magazine. I received this e mail from my web guy, and wanted to ask if any other magazines have been notified about this extreme gesture of support.
