Though it looks like I won't be able to make it to Carlisle as my original plan had intended, I'd say it'd be a great way to present the car to Don. :grinyes: :2thumbs:

Have a drill sargeant waiting there for him to chew him out!
:iagree: that would just put it over the top!, or maybe local honor guard there with the colors? they are very good at being hidden until required

That sounds pretty cool.  Anybody with connections to make it happen?

I really like the idea of calling Don to the Garlitz and Muldowny display for the presentation.  This is really a once in a life time kind of experience for anyone, so why not try to put this over the top?  I understand also that he would want to drive the car all weekend, but he is going to get to drive it all he wants and this presentation is a one time shot.  :dunno:  Face it, this presentation is not just for Don, but also should be something for the whole forum.  Especially to help give back to the incredible work Tony has put into this project.   Make this over the top memorable for everyone!  I am sure people outside this forum are going to look at this and take back something as well.  :picture:

Just my  :2cents: :dunno:

4C, Do a little arm twisting right now to see if MMM can scare up some contributions for the cause!

<EDIT>    Not referring to $ from MMM, but possibly connections in the industry they would have, advertisers etc.,
that could pitch in goods.

To any Magazine or like organization what we will come up in the red at time of presentation is like a tip you or I might leave a hard working waitress. They can, question is will they? Sure would be nice. But although this membership has reacted in stellar fashion we must continue on, we dare not rely on outside sources. IT CAN BE DONE, AND WE CAN DO IT ! !

I do not like the idea of having a drill instructor greeting/chewing him out. I think this day should be about friends, family and the car. Its not that bringing a military flavor to it would be a bad thing, I just think it would be sort of a distraction in a way. Of course majority rules and this is just my own opinion. You guys and gals will find a perfect way to present it, of that I have no doubt. I just wish I could be there.

It was just an idea I threw out because I thought it would be pretty boring to just call his name over the loud speaker, have a yadi yadi yadi presentation and then give him the car and then everybody clapping.  :clapping:

I just was wanting to see if someone could take that idea and work it into something of a major mind blowing surprise that would throw Don off guard completely of why he was called on over the loud speaker. This should be about having fun and being a very memorable experience.

Using the Military was one way I thought about that would do that.

Thats cool, I can understand that. I was just thinking he probably thinks about the military and upcoming assignments enough without it being part of such a special day.
