It was just an idea I threw out because I thought it would be pretty boring to just call his name over the loud speaker, have a yadi yadi yadi presentation and then give him the car and then everybody clapping.  :clapping:

I just was wanting to see if someone could take that idea and work it into something of a major mind blowing surprise that would throw Don off guard completely of why he was called on over the loud speaker. This should be about having fun and being a very memorable experience.

Using the Military was one way I thought about that would do that.

Instead of a drill instructor (which is only used in basic training) there could be 1 or even a couple servicemen dressed in class A's there.  The first thought on his mind would most likely be "oh SH!T, I gotta go back already"  (When I was in that would've probably been my first thought) Maybe they could present him with some sort of certificate or plaque from the members of CC.com thanking him for his service to his country helping to keep the freedom we all have.  And then proceed from there with however ya'll plan to present him with the car.
Just an idea.  I wish I could be there and I really wish I could've helped is some way.  With my job changes and so on so forth I haven't been able to.  I commend all thats been involved in this and to everyone on this board for being such great people that are always willing to help others.  I've only met a few of ya'll and look foward to meeting everyone possible in the future.  As its been said before this is truly a family.  And its a family full of extremely large hearts.  Foreign and domestic.  I feel that there isn't a better group of people anywhere.

I was thinking it would be cool the bring Garlits in on the deal. Give him the keys with a personalized fob to give to Don, maybe in the guise of "I found these & wanted to see that they got to you". Turn Don around & everyone is there by the Cuda.....

Somebody was mentioning in another thread about getting his son involved.  What about having his son bring him the keys?

That would definitely bring more family meaning into this.  Something more they will both remember.

The kid thing sounds neat, but I know kids also have a hard time keeping secrets.  I wouldn't bring him in on this too early if you go that route...it's amazing this mission has been held a secret this long, and we are so very close now.   :2cents:

Sure wish I could be there for it!  I am excited about seeing some video of this when it all goes down.  Great job everyone!   :2thumbs:

If I was going to make this happen I would perhaps tell the father-in-law to make sure everything behind the scenes was planned, and then tell the son at the very last second, like "Here, take these to Daddy!"

Check what I posted in the "presentation" thread. Having Dons son run the keys to him would be cool.

This will be a moment that will be remembered by Don forever. I can only wish my plans fall together and I end up being there to see this happen. His son giving him the keys is a great idea but don't let him in on it to soon as he is a kid and may not be able to keep the secret from dad. You guys have come up with a great idea putting this all together for Don and this will make his day and be filled with lots of emotions and excitment that will last a long time.

Has Mopar Muscle said they will definitely be doing an 'exclusive' with Don at Carlisle?
What's the latest news?

This is the best Mopar story I've heard all year long.  I can't wait to open the mailbox and find Don's Cuda on the cover of the magazine(hopefully).

Great job, everyone!!!!!  You don't hear of this kind of caring and generosity very often.  The only thing that would even come close is ABC's Extreme Home Makeover.
