That's a do-it-yourself kit.....you say you don't know wiring.....you would need to know wiring.

Gotcha.....eletrical to me is bad.......it's like the old IT saying where computer programmers hate networking and networking people hate programming.  I'm a programmer and hate networking.....I'm also an engine guy and hate electrical.....don't know how to use a multi-meter or anything like that.....just a test light and that's it.  I was going to use my multi-meter to test for hot wires but I had NO CLUE on what setting to use or what the correct/incorrect reading should me.....  I said no way,   not screwing something else up by doing that....it'll be just my luck!

The wires in the connector going to the floor switch may be shorted.  Do yourself a big favor and give Tom a call at M&H 562 926-9552 x201.  He will give you some logical troubleshooting tips.

WOW...is all I can say....Tom was a HUGE help.....I just got off the phone with him and he spent close to 40 minutes telling me everything and I mean EVERYTHING electrical about my car, what could have gone wrong, what components to check/change due to the surge, I mean this guy is top shelf material.  FY1, thank you so much  for his number.  Even though it's looking like my dash harness is fried, Tom gave me some helpful hints on where to look for the melt and how to fix it and even said to call him back if I had more questions. 

Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow? LOL....we'll see how it goes under that dash!

Ok, finally had a chance to get in and find the problem....melted wires on the back side of the bulkhead connector.....just as Tom had suggested from M&H.  Here's some pics....you can see how bad they were melted together...I gently pulled them apart but it seems I may need a new bulkhead box.  The power inlet and outlet look smoked on both sides. 

Does anyone know how the wires are held in on the back side of the bulkhead connector?  Is it just a basic connector or are they soddered (sp?) in?
