« on: November 26, 2003 - 11:43:30 PM »
well i'm not sure if you guys remember me or not, but i'm the one that was going to by the Challenger from my uncle.  Well it turns out right as i was about to do it, he changes his mind and says hes going to keep it and fix it up himeself.  kinda odd cause he has had it for who knows how long.  and he now decides to fix it.  oh well i guess, my friend knows this guy that has a field of mopars i'm going to go check out.  so we'll see!

Hopefully he will fix it and not let it sit there for another 10-15 years till it rots away to nothing. There`s still some decent cars out there so I`m sure you`ll find something.

Sorry to hear about that lostone  :'( But as everyone has said just hang in there and your e-body will come to you when the time is right  ;) Another way to look at it is, it hasn't left the family so you still might have a chance - just make sure that everyone in your family knows that you are the one who will be buying/recieving it if it is ever sold within the family, it would really suck if he sold it to a dip sh#t cousin that you don't like very much  :o >:(
Hope you find a nice Cuda mate and then you can drive around to your uncles and he'll ask "Hi, how did you get here?" you can reply, "Oh, I just poped over to see you in my Cuda - nothing much, (change subject quickly),  Anyway so how was your day......... ;D ;D

It's your interest that has sparked his wanting to work
on the car
It might be a good idea to keep bugging him about the
car. Try to put air in the tires, wash off the years of crud,
clean it out inside ect. If you don't end up with car you
could at least go cruising together when it is done.
If it never gets done "and goes out on a hook" at least
you learned how these cars go together. Experience
on a E-body is the best you can get when your a rookie

Maybe it was just not meant to be. Keep your eyes open, ask people with mopars if they know about any for sale. Also keep an eye out in the news paper, and free auto shopper magazines

yea it is a weird deal.  My uncle wants to sell it to me cause he wants it gone.  But his son is the one saying he's going to fix it up and all.  and i know that he never will.  but oh well nothing i can do about it.  so i will just continue to save and keep my eye open.

Here's a quick story of how I got my beloved Challenger,
I had been looking for any E-Body - but wanted a Challenger - (A la Vanishing point), searched the internet for around 6-8 months and nothing a few in the US but way to much effort and papers to sign to get it here plus I couldn't inspect the car in person  ;)
So I kept searching, papers, internet, local for sale boards, friends - Nothing!!
After about 10 months I found one on a NZ (eBay) called Trademe.co.nz, I couldn't believe it  :o The add red:
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T
#'s Matching
440/727
$26,000 NZ - US = $13,000
So I gave him a call asked where he was? he was only 30 mins drive, condition? Garaged for 20 years in a car cover, Colour White - I just about fell over due to the drool on the floor, went around with dad to check it out, it was awsome, I'll never forget the day me and my Challenger laid eyes on one another - Double garage by herself, the guy said here she is and slowly pulled the cover back, first I saw her badges "R/T" "Challenger" then her buldge hood with chunky scoops........Fu#k that was a good day!! Anyway I asked him if he would take $24K he said sure, I said done. The Guy said that he had several offers that day and the car was only put on the night before but he let me have first dibs because the others were all in Auckland - 9 hours away  ;D ;D ;D

Thats how I got my Mopar and everyone has a different unique story of how they got theres, just take your time because the day you do get one will be one you'll never forget  8)

ive got a interesting story about mine.

back in 98 ,I was stationed in hawaii ,K-bay for those of you who know the islands.  one day im out on a bike ride and spot something out of the corner of my eye that was lime green. Being a Mopar fan i had to take a second look.  i rode up and it was an AAR Cuda or a clone at least. with a forsale sign in the rear window for $10,000.
i drooled for a while and then left. A few weeks later i noticed it was still there , so i took a second look and this time wrote down the number. I didnt call..
bout another week later i saw that it was STILL there, this had to be cus there is something wrong with it. so i called the guy and asked to see it.
the paint and body was great, the interior and engine compartment was rough, but the car ran good.  it was a clone AAR but a real Cuda. originally a 383 now a 440.
I called my bank and got a loan then went back and told the guy the bank only approved me for 6 grand (lie) and he took it.
its been mine ever since.

well my story is not quite as interesting but here it is.
i have been lookin for a 70 cuda for about 11 or 12 years and all i could find were out of my price range, i pay a pretty large chunk in child suport hence the price problem. i heard that a friend of my cousins had a 70 barracuda that was in pretty rough shape and maybe he would be interested in selling it. i stopped by to look but he didnt give any indication that he was gonna sell it. well he told my cousin that he was gonna part it out on E-bay and i told him to ask if he was really interested in selling it. it took a couple days of my cuz workin him over to get him to sell it rather than part it out. he told my cuz that he would sell it for 500 bucks but i had to make up my mind if i wanted it pretty quick or he was gonna start parting it out. i imediately told my cuz to let him know i want it and on Tuesday night 12-09-03 i got the title for it ;D. so ive owned the car for 3 days now and it still aint home yet  :( we got snow on tuesday night so i havent gotten to get it trailered home yet. soon but ill keep everyone posted and ill post some pics as soon as i can.  ;D its a #'s matching 318 automatic car. so keep your chin up and youll get what you want when you least expect it.  ;D
