Pix Of 3 months plus resto
« on: June 27, 2007 - 08:22:55 PM »
My chally was brought into the shop to take care of some bubbling of the paint on the lower quarters.
Well one thing leads to another, they have had it since mid march, and will have it 2 more months.
Here are some pix.....

So, petty blue becomes plum crazy.
Black top will be white.
Blue seats & door panels become white
Blue dash, carpet & console become black.
Blue headliner and sunvisors become white.
Raylle strobes replaced with a 70 r/t stripe.
Etc, etc. So far, 350 hours.
Thank god for credit cards.

These guys are good. I waited over 2 years for an appointment.
I watched as the bubbles got worse over the 2 years.
I wavered back & forth between keeping the orig petty blue or changing to the plum crazy.
They knew I wanted the purple and convinced me that now was the time to do it while the car was apart.
They said it would be an extra 10-15 grand to change the color.
First I said ok.
Then 2 weeks later I said no.
Then I took the wife to see it and she said go for your dreams.
However, it will also cost me for new floring in the house, which I promised her right after I bought my cordoba.
Then 6 months later I bought the chally.
Then, I started having things done to the chally like putting in a/c, electric windows, and disc brakes, so again- no flooring.
Then I bought a set of nos 1971 wide chrome molding for the hood, and she found out it cost almost as much as the flooring she wants.
A small price to pay..... lol.

The wide chrome trim looks very nice!!!

Car looks awesome!!! :wow:  I feel your pain. I got a crunched front fender on my Challenger when the front wheel came off. It turned into a whole body job (paint and all including a trunk replacement) and interior work too. It's been in the body shop about 3 months now & I am having withdraw symtoms!! :eek4: Can't wait till I get it back. I know you'll love that Plum Crazy when you git-r back!!! :2thumbs: Aint nothing but money!! :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

That's awesome!  I'm doing something similar with my '73, painting the tail panel body color (white) but keeping the taillight buckets black.  Do you mind my asking how you got the wide '71 grille opening molding to work on yours?  Mine is painted body color (as it should be), but I'd really like to have a chrome molding around the grille.
