Anyone know how to remove adhesive from a painted surface?
« on: June 29, 2007 - 07:26:02 PM »
A friend of mine is working on an old car that has a painted dash. One of the previous owners glued a leopard print material down on the painted surface. I don;t know what type of adhesive it is, but it's almost impossible to move. We grabbed a corner of the fabric with a pair of pliers and tried to pull it up. When we did, it actually started to rip the paint right off the dash, leaving a deep gash. From what we can tell, the dash is nice underneath.

Does anyone know something that we can pour on the cloth that would dissolve the adhesive without ruining the paint on the dash?

After pulling the hundrdes of little stripes in a set of Rallye stripes on my 73 Challenger, I can attest to the superiority of Rapid Remover to Goo Gone.

They are both similar, but RR is definitely more industrial strength.

If it's adhesive, RR will dissolve it.

Look in the phone book for custom sign places. Anyone who deals in vinyl graphics should stock it.
