Now lets see...our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free
medical care, free education
and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen. Then the illegal's
came by the tens of thousands.
Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are
housing 5 families: you have to
wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor. Your child's 2nd grade
class is behind other
schools because over half the class doesn't speak English:

While true, these problems are not caused by illegals, they are caused by the politicians that put them into play.

The problem needs to be fixed at its origin...

It is not enough to just try and tape over the leaking faucet... you've got to fix the leak at its source. The source, of course, is the failing Latin American economies. All the corruption south of the border, combined with the restrictive socialist economies that was/are in place in these countries for many years are the reason that people do not get jobs in their home country, but rather come and take jobs in the United States.

But, hey, if they're going to be here, and they hope to become part of American society... they'd better speak English, or at the very least, make an attempt to learn the language...

And I am not saying by any stretch that we should be PC here... but we can't do better than calling people ragheads? Come on, these are people living in America, trying to get by. It's not like they are savages running around with AK-47s blazing in the Middle East... Besides, the guys with the intricately wrapped headcoverings - turbans - are Sikhs. They're not even from the Middle East, technically - they're Indian.

Just remember, the second amendment is the reset button of the Constitution. That's why Liberals want to take away our guns so badly.

   Becoming a citizen should be equally allowed to all and not have different rules for different races.  For instance, a Cuban just has to touch US soil to become a citizen.

Now THAT'S total B.S.! My wife's father brought her, her sister and brother over from Cuba when she was 10 years old. Their father died 40 days later of a heart attack and they were raised in a foster home. Several years ago my wife's sister called her and told her she had just found out that they were not U.S. citizens as they had thought (they thought that had all been taken care of when they were in foster care). My wife had to file all the paperwork and pay government fees the same as any other person coming into this country and become a resident alien for 3 years (also known as getting your green card, although the card is actually pink!) After 3 years she was eligable to apply for U.S. citizenship, after proving that she had a job and was an asset to this country (as opposed to just living on welfare). After more paperwork and fees, tests and an oral interview, and another 6 month wait she was finally sworn in as a U.S. Citizen. She had to go through all this AFTER living in the U.S. for more than 30 years, being married to a natural born U.S. citizen for 15 years and having 4 children in this country! A Cuban just has to touch U.S. soil to become a citizen? YOU my friend, have absolutely no idea what you are talking about! :dupe:

I do know what I am talking about.  When writing it I can make mistakes.  I was meaning become eligible and being able to stay in the US until they are eligible.  A rewrite would be "a Cuban just has to touch US soil to become elligible to become a citizen". The so-called 'wet feet, dry feet' policy, which underwent revision during the Clinton Administration in 1995, stipulates that once a Cuban immigrant makes it ashore, he or she can seek residency a year after arrival.  These immigrants are not typically deported back to Cuba. However, those intercepted in the waters between the two nations are returned to Cuba immediately.  A Hatian, for instance, gets sent back no matter what if they come ashore by boat to the US.  My point was that the immigration laws we do set up need to be consistant for all immigrants.  Sorry for the confusion.

Just read in the local paper about a new catering business, they interviewed the owner who had been in this country for 25 years but can not speak english...what the @#$%#@... How can you operate a business in this country and not speak the common language? Seems like it might limit how far you could go..but I could  be wrong.... just seems lazy to me but there must be a market for it....very SAD but the wave of the future. The melting pot is not melting any more....  :violin:
