outside Chgallenger Mirrors
« on: July 01, 2007 - 09:34:38 AM »
My car came with the standard outside drivers mirror and no passenger side mirror. In order to add the racing mirrors I will need to cut a hole in the panel for the remote. What do you think?

You do ask difficult questions don't ya?  :roflsmiley:  Personally I prefer two mirrows over just the one, balances out the car so much better IMO. However, I (me) would never attempt to drill holes in any panel anywhere on the car, but if you feel comfortable doing that...................or the body shop will cut holes anyplace.  :smilielol:

Now, painted or chrome, chrome definately sets off the car better because of the contrast, but with our chally both chrome mirrows were badly pitted, so they were sandblasted and painted body color including the fine blue pearl.

What should you do? Whatever Robert decides to do, either option will be nice.  :roflsmiley: So I did not vote any option.  :roflsmiley:

Do I have to do what Robert says? And who's Robert? If its Robert Blake I'll lisyten to what he says :smilielol:
I too hate to cut into any panel on my car but I guess I can pretend it was added at the dealer. I got both the driver and passenger side for my 70 but the need to be re-chromed. They are not badly pitted at all.

The std. mirrors are seldom seen these days, personally I would leave it that way just for that reason.

Here is a photo of one in case anyone does not know what they look like;

I personally like the chrome look, really makes a nice contrast to the body color.

 :stirpot: It sure is a lot easier to paint. The car looks good so chrome does not have to be.

If you are doing an original type resto I`d leave it alone,as it would stand out as unique from all the dual racing ones.

I'd keep the original, but that is just me.  You never see them on these cars, and I think you score points keeping it original (even though the racing mirrors are pretty sweet)

my car was in the same boat as yours....I had plastic mirrors from the 80's and then bought the repops from PG Classics and had my body shop drill door panel for remote and drill the pass door holes......they even matched the old yellow paint which I was told yellow is one of the hardest colors to match...

BTW you will need the bracket that goes inside the drivers door for the control cable.....no one makes so you have to find one.......

I got mine from a boneyard in Al. called Stephens Performance.....here is a pic of the bracket
