Apporoximately 705 1970 Barracudas were built for the US with the 318 / 4-speed combination.

Now there one less.....although I think the 440 could be detuned to run like a 318 if Alan was so inclined....yea right!  :smilielol:

Drive like you stole it Alan!  :burnout:  :droolingbounce:

Well, I have a 318 out back by the shed. It is a 74 model tho. I will eventually find a 70 model 318 and scarf it up for future use one day.

Here's some of the pics the wife took. Sorry, I haven't been home for 5 weeks to mow my grass.  And the car isn't painted yet, so it's an ugly duckling right now.
But it is well on it's way now that it goes under it's own power.

I got the quarter scoops and the flouresent stripe kit coming, still got to buy the orangosol and one quarter chrome.

Looks great Al!

Are you going to go with the M46 lower black out & pinstripes?

Yes I am Barry. Everything the car came with as new is going back on it except for the engine was missing. I will eventually locate a 70 318 complete to rebuild for it. I got the barracuda fender emblems I still need to put back on the fenders too. Oh, I did convert it over to standard disc brakes, but have the power steering box and the power booster put up somewhere. I was glad it was a non a/c car. Soon as I get the black orangosol, I will be getting it all done up. It has a single coat of paint on the shell now to keep it from rusting. There isn't any kind of major body work that needs to be done as you can see. The car was stripped, walnut shell blasted and a light coat of paint installed.

Thanks for sharing the pics Al.  :picture: The car looks great.  :2thumbs: It's all uphill now!! I'd leave the 440 in it, but that's just me. Have a great time at home. Relax a bit & enjoy!!

Thanks for the responses. And thanks Matt.

I am now taking the light housings and handles and stuff back off and putting the body gasket kits in, installing the heater box, body plugs and fideling with all the tedious little things that add up.

You're right about the up hill from here remark, but I have a low gear for that....ALAN

Hey guys, the car set up in a garage in the california desert completly disassembled down to the hull with nothing but the rearend in it for 32 years. It was parked in 1975 and was going to be painted orange. it was a factory purple car.

I bought the car late june in 2006 and it came with a 70 440-6 intake setup. 2 440 blocks and heads  68 and a 69 hp, along with all the parts that was stripped off the car. It took a year to clean it up, build an engine, buy the wheels and tires, the 4 speed, exhaust yadda yadda and dash pad.

But the odometer says 42k on it and it being parked in 75 and fairly good shape, i was inclined to believe it may be the actual miles on the body. It has never seen a total of 1" of rain since it was made in La. and being in the desert for so long.

The only factory item I really don't like is the 6 way seat. It puts me too high up and the steering wheel is uncomfortable that way for driving. It's such a rare car that I dont have the heart to go modifying anything. But a smaller tuff wheel is in the picture. And it will remain a barracuda. But the 440 will stay in it for quite a while. :2thumbs:
