Check the block numbers-look under the front drivers side head/block mating surface for some stamped numbers-should match the vin number.

That is the engine serial number. The VIN number is on the passenger side of the block near the oil pan rail.

That's cool it's a matching numbers car.  The only thing bad about that is it is a 318 car.  What is a 318 worth?  Build the hemi 4 speed clone, sell it, and but 6 more numbers matching 318 cars.  It's your car, do what will make YOU happy.

:iagree: A 318 car isn't worth much. #s matching or not. I say continue with you're plans of making a Hemi clone out of it. You'll have a lot more fun with a hemi than you will a 318. :2cents:

If you decide to sell your 70 e body 318, and live close enough, I am looking for one for my 70 barracuda for later on when I put it back to match the fender tag. I need a complete engine

I would go ahead with your clone.  I would keep your original motor also.

A `70 318 convertible is still worth some decent change today. If you want a nice cruiser keep it matching numbers but if you like speed yank it and go Hemi but keep the 318 stored in case you ever sell or go back original.
